Drive our digital transformation through immersive 3D experiences in our software products
Volvo Group Digital & IT is on an exciting journey. Within our Digital Delivery function, we identify and deliver new digital initiatives and modernize existing solutions across Volvo Group brands. With a product-centric operating model and modern technology architecture, we create scalable, differentiated software products that drive business performance and value.
As a 3D Specialist Chapter Lead, you will function as a creative team director and lead a team of 3D artists and technical specialists focused on creating high-quality 3D assets from CAD data, developing textures and materials, and integrating these into applications and experiences. You will collaborate closely with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of 3D content into real-time applications using Unity, Unreal, VRED, and other engines.
What you will do
As Chapter Lead, you are both a people manager and a technical expert in 3D content creation and integration. You will:
- Lead, develop, and attract a team of talented 3D artists and specialists, supporting their personal growth and technical excellence.
- Define and execute the competence strategy for your chapter to become a world class 3D creative team
- Collaborate with software developers to create immersive applications and experiences using 3D models.
- Ensure high-quality asset creation from CAD data, including optimization for real-time engines.
- Drive innovation in materials, textures, lighting, rendering techniques, and workflows.
- Contribute part-time as a senior 3D creative director and 3D technical lead.
- Foster collaboration across chapters in Poland, Sweden, France, the US, and India.
- Promote agile ways of working and continuous improvement.
You will be part of the global Mobile, 3D, and XR Leadership Team and report to the Head of Mobile, 3D and XR Chapter in Sweden.
Who are you?
You are a visionary and hands-on leader with deep expertise in 3D content creation and integration. You thrive in cross-functional environments and enjoy mentoring others while staying close to the craft.
You bring:
- Several years of experience in 3D asset creation, including CAD conversion, modeling, texturing, and optimization.
- Strong knowledge of real-time 3D engines (Unity, Unreal, VRED) and their pipelines.
- Experience working with software developers to integrate 3D content into applications.
- Understanding of PBR materials, lighting, and rendering techniques.
- Familiarity with XR (AR/VR/MR) and its application in industrial or product experiences.
- Technical leadership experience and ideally prior people management.
- Agile mindset and experience working in global product development teams.
Other skills:
- Knowledge of automation tools for asset processing.
- Familiarity with cloud-based rendering or streaming solutions.
- Experience with shader development and visual scripting.
- Experience in use of AI and machine learning in the 3D space.
- Understanding performance optimization for mobile and XR platforms.
- Excellent proficiency in English.
