Position Description

Powertrain Engineering is contributing to the Volvo Group’s competitive position in the marketplace by developing and maintaining profitable products and product components in terms of quality, delivery, cost, function and that comply with all applicable regulatory requirements. Our scope of work includes engineering and design of engines, gearboxes, axles, driveline and is based on common architecture and shared technology.

 

In Curitiba we are responsible for the Latin America market which concerns Powertrain Engineering Application. We drive product modification activities related to medium and heavy diesel engines in all markets up to Euro V legislation and support the Euro VI and Euro VII development as well. In addition, we support the global organization on specific delegated responsibilities. 
 
In the Performance & Calibration team we develop the calibration of combustion engines and exhaust after-treatment systems. Our team is composed of skilled engineers with diverse backgrounds that work together to find innovative solutions for calibration, by deskwork and hands on at engine test cell and on vehicles, supporting software and hardware development. 
 
We are seeking a motivated person to work as Calibration Integration Engineer, do you want to be a part of it? 

 

What you will do

As Calibration Integration Engineer you will be working in the Performance & Calibration team in the engineering department for medium / heavy-duty engines and exhaust after-treatment systems. Your objective will be to play a key role in the software and calibration delivery process, while fostering strong relationships with all project and maintenance stakeholders within the Volvo Powertrain organization.

The calibration team has interface with different areas of Volvo Group, such as vehicle testing, engine dynamometer and gearbox development. We count on a complete infrastructure inside Curitiba plant. Our scope of products is medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses, and we also support colleagues and customers in different countries. 
 
Your core responsibilities will be 
    • Prepare and manage calibration release activities and files;
    • Provide calibration for HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop bench) and vehicle tests;
    • Setup Creta (calibration management and repository system) for calibration files import;
    • Compile calibration packages;
    • Organize and lead validation meetings;
    • Release and assure calibration contents.

 

Who are you?

We need you to be experienced and have technical skills in 
    • Understanding powertrain operation;
    • Good understanding in project and process management;
    • Agile methodology and Jira system;
    • Software and calibration of combustion engines, after-treatment systems, vehicle and OBD.

 

And finally, it is considered a merit if you have experience in 
    • Calibration tools such as: ATI-Vision, ETAS-Inca, AVL-Creta, CANalyzer;
    • Data analysis and optimization tools such as: Python, Matlab, VBA;
    • Software Development tools: Git, Jenkins;
    • Proven hands-on experience in projects of medium and high complexity;
    • Understand the medium / heavy-duty market and applications;
    • Ability to identify technical risks and propose improvements on on-going processes.

 

Education 
    • Master of Science (equivalent to engineer degree in Brazil) - Mechanical, Software, Electrical, Mechatronics;
    • Higher graduation level is a merit;
    • Fluent in English and Portuguese, written and spoken;
    • Fluency in French, written and spoken, is a merit.
