What you will do

Working with us means working with some of the world’s most iconic brands and becoming part of a reputation built over more than a century. You will take the lead in managing the aftermarket purchasing portfolio, and as a Buyer, you will be accountable for the responsibilities described below. This position will be based in Curitiba, Paraná, and will report to the Head of Aftermarket Purchasing Brazil.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and negotiate the spare parts business, focusing on price competitiveness and availability to meet customers’ expectations.
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies that improve supply chain performance (localization, cost improvements, logistics optimization, CO2 reduction, bundles, etc.).
  • Lead negotiations and agreements with suppliers in collaboration with local and global peers.
  • Perform daily purchasing activities related to aftermarket purchasing (e.g., back-order recovery, parts development support, managing purchase requisitions, forecasting cost developments within the scope of responsibility, managing demand, deliveries, price discrepancies, invoice payments, parts and tooling scrap, customer adaptations, data analytics, business review meetings with suppliers and stakeholders, placing orders).
  • Drive all relevant activities to deliver on Quality, Delivery, Cost, Technology, Sustainability, and Risk Management targets.
  • Monitor, identify and mitigate risks within the current supplier base.
  • Be an active member of the global Buyer network and foster synergies across all Volvo business units.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and performance.
  • Track cost drivers on a regular basis and develop strategies to maintain cost competitiveness.

Who are you

  • Strong purchasing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Experience within the manufacturing industry.
  • Native Portuguese speaker, fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Proven negotiation skills and TCO mentality.
  • Strong business acumen, an agile way of working, strong analytical skills, and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Desire to work collaboratively as part of a team toward a common purpose.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Accountability for leading internal projects.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment, both locally and globally.
  • Proactive and positive mindset.
  • SAP, MS Office 365 knowledge is mandatory.
  • Python skills.
