Our next chapter is in Mississauga.
In 2026, we will be transitioning our operations to Mississauga, with the team fully based there by January 2027. This is an on-site role and offers the opportunity to be part of that transition, with work taking place across both locations during 2026 based on business needs.
Flexibility during this period provides early exposure, strong visibility, and a chance to help shape how we operate in our new location.
This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting and tax compliance, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory requirements. As a key member of the Canada leadership team, the Manager of Accounting will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and direction of the organization.
What You Will Do
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and analysis of variances.
- Direct the preparation and filing of all tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other regulatory filings, ensuring timely submission and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff, including training, performance management, and professional development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to support strategic initiatives and process improvements.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax laws and regulations, and assess the impact on the organization, providing recommendations and implementing necessary changes.
- Lead and support external audits, examinations, and reviews by regulatory agencies, auditors, and tax authorities.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure smooth communication and resolution of issues.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA certification preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and tax roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial position.
- Proficiency with MS Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel and accounting software
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and standards, including GAAP and tax regulations.
- Strong experience in financial reporting requirements and preparing financial statements.
- Proven tax compliance and reporting expertise (corporate income and sales tax).
- Experience in captive finance industry is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and work effectively on multiple tasks in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
- Solid working knowledge of IFRS accounting principles and financial information systems.
- Sound business judgment and decision-making abilities
