AI Security Engineer
Bangalore, IN, 562122
Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
What you will do
We, at Enterprise IT Security, are on a mission to secure the IT journey for the Volvo Group. We work closely together with stakeholders across several Business Areas (BAs), Truck Divisions (TDs), and Group Functions (GFs). While the BAs are responsible for driving the business, the TDs provide research, development, manufacturing and assembly. Within Volvo Group, the GFs own the Group agenda, provide strategic direction and have global responsibility.
With Enterprise IT Security you will be part of Group Digital & IT, a global and diverse team of highly skilled professionals who work with passion, trust each other and embrace change to stay ahead.
Your main activities and responsibilities:
As an AI Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining AI-powered applications that support Enterprise IT Security processes and services. You will be responsible for building reliable, scalable, and secure solutions based on Large Language Models, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, and modern software engineering practices.
The role includes close collaboration with developers, architects, IT security advisors, product owners, and DevOps teams. You will translate business and security requirements into well-designed technical solutions, contribute to architectural decisions, and ensure that AI applications are observable, testable, maintainable, and ready for enterprise use.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain AI-powered applications using Python and modern AI frameworks.
- Build LLM-based solutions with tools such as LangChain and LangGraph, including agents, workflows, and human-in-the-loop processes.
- Develop retrieval-augmented generation solutions using structured and unstructured data, embeddings, vector databases, and document retrieval pipelines.
- Integrate AI solutions with Azure OpenAI, enterprise APIs, databases, and internal platforms.
- Design scalable, modular, and maintainable backend services and APIs following clean architecture and software design best practices.
- Ensure solutions meet enterprise requirements for security, privacy, access control, reliability, and performance.
- Define and execute evaluation strategies for LLM applications, including testing, validation, and regression checks.
- Use observability tools such as LangSmith to monitor, trace, and improve AI workflows.
- Identify and mitigate risks such as hallucinations, prompt injection, data leakage, and inconsistent outputs.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across IT, security, architecture, product, and DevOps teams to translate business needs into AI solutions.
- Document technical designs, implementation guidelines, and operational procedures.
- Stay current with developments in generative AI and contribute to reusable components, standards, and best practices.
In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping how AI is used within Volvo Group Enterprise IT Security. Your ability to combine practical AI development skills with sound software architecture and engineering practices will be key to delivering secure, reliable, and valuable AI solutions.

Who are you?
We are expecting you to have a strong software development background, with practical experience in Python and the development of AI-powered applications. You understand that building enterprise AI solutions requires more than connecting an application to a language model. You can design maintainable software, work with complex integrations, evaluate solution quality, and operate applications reliably in a production environment.
Your ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be essential to succeed in this role.
Required skills and experience
- Strong Python development skills with experience building production-grade applications.
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar frameworks for LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.
- Practical knowledge of RAG, embeddings, document processing, semantic search, and vector databases.
- Experience integrating LLMs via APIs, preferably Azure OpenAI.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development.
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of software architecture principles such as Clean Architecture, modularity, and separation of concerns.
- Experience designing and building REST APIs and backend services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Knowledge of testing, version control, code review, dependency management, Git, Docker, and CI/CD.
- Awareness of AI security risks such as prompt injection, sensitive data exposure, and unreliable model outputs.
- Ability to troubleshoot application, integration, retrieval, and model-related issues.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure AI Search, Azure Functions, Azure App Service, Azure Container Apps, or Azure DevOps.
- Frontend experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or Tailwind CSS.
- Knowledge of asynchronous programming and event-driven systems.
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, Microsoft Entra ID, or managed identities.
- Familiarity with secure software development, DevSecOps, or enterprise security practices.
- Experience working with enterprise data, document systems, or knowledge bases.
- Exposure to other AI frameworks, model providers, open-source models, or evaluation tools.
Minimum Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, information technology, a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience, primarily using Python.
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience developing AI, LLM, generative AI, or retrieval-augmented generation solutions.
• Experience delivering software beyond the prototype stage and contributing to applications intended for production or enterprise use.
