Volvo Group Internal Audit (GIA)

 

GIA provides the Board of Directors and Executive Management with independent, objective, and risk-based assurance — identifying strengths and opportunities to support compliance, efficiency, and long-term performance. We also offer impartial advice that strengthens internal controls and supports continuous improvement.

You’ll be part of a diverse and multicultural team working across Volvo Group’s truck divisions, business areas, and group functions. Our audits cover a wide range of topics — from operations and commercial processes to strategic initiatives and governance — giving you deep insights into the inner workings of a global industrial leader.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Corporate Governance and Risk Management

 

  • Design and execute a risk-based annual internal audit plan focused on corporate governance.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of Internal Financial Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR).
  • Assess corporate compliance with the Companies Act 2013, SEBI LODR regulations, and Secretarial Standards.
  • Review related-party transactions, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) disclosures, and CSR frameworks.
  • Evaluate strategic corporate functions including Treasury, Mergers & Acquisitions, Legal, Purchasing, Operations, Engineering, Technology, Real Estate and Human Resources.

 

Data Analytics and Continuous Auditing

 

  • Build and embed data analytics routines into standard audit procedures to increase test coverage.
  • Establish continuous monitoring dashboards to detect financial leakages, fraud anomalies, and process policy violations.
  • Query large datasets from SAP (FI-CO, MM, SD modules) to perform automated root-cause analysis.
  • Visualise audit findings using data platforms to present high-impact risk narratives to stakeholders.

 

Operational Integrity & Anti-Fraud Governance

 

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments on high-risk corporate areas including capital allocation and pricing strategies.
  • Lead or support forensic investigations into whistleblower complaints, ethics violations, or financial irregularities.
  • Review delegation of authority (DoA) matrices to ensure adequate segregation of duties at the corporate level.

 

Stakeholder Management and Reporting

 

  • Prepare objective, concise audit reports for the Management Committee and the Audit Committee.
  • Partner with CXOs and corporate functional heads to drive closure of open audit issues.
  • Monitor the implementation of agreed-upon action plans through automated tracking mechanisms.
  • Manage and upskill a team of internal auditors while overseeing co-sourced global consultancy partners.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills (From an Indian context)

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (CA) or MBA in Finance from a premier institution is mandatory.
  • Certifications: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), CISA, or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Min 10 years of post-qualification experience, with a heavy focus on corporate audits, governance, and risk advisory. Consultancy experience combined with automotive/manufacturing corporate MNC exposure is ideal.

 

Technical Competencies

 

  • Data Tools: Proven expertise in data tools like Power BI, Tableau, SQL, ACL (Galvanize), or Python is a major advantage.
  • ERP Domain: Strong hands-on knowledge of SAP ERP control frameworks.
  • Regulations: Expert understanding of Ind AS, Indian Companies Act, SEBI guidelines, and corporate taxation.

 

Behavioural Competencies

 

  • Exceptional executive presence with the ability to influence CXO-level stakeholders.
  • Sharp objective mindset capable of maintaining independence during sensitive corporate reviews.
  • Strong strategic thinking, people management, and conflict-resolution skills.
