Job Summary
The L1/L2 Application Support Engineer is the first point of contact for users facing issues with applications, responsible for providing initial troubleshooting, resolving basic problems, and ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first-level support contact via SNOW system, email, or teams
- Receive, log, and track incidents/service requests in ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira)
- Perform basic troubleshooting for application issues (login errors, config issues)
- Monitor applications and ensure system availability and performance
- Provide quick resolutions for common issues using knowledge base and standard procedures
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to L3 or development teams
- Communicate with users on issue status and resolution timelines
- Document incidents, solutions, and workarounds for future reference
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of application support processes and ITIL concepts
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows/Linux)
- Understanding of:
- Logs and monitoring tools
- Ticketing tools (ServiceNow)
- Basic troubleshooting and analytical skills
- RDBMS knowledge
- GIT/ SVN knowledge
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and customer handling skills
- Problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work in shift support / 24x7 environment (if required)
- Attention to detail
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / IT or related field
- A min of 2 years prior experience
