GTT (Group Truck Technology) Vehicle technology, Thermal Management team is looking for an energetic and skilled aspirant as EPIC OWNER. The mission of the EPIC OWNER is to lead and facilitate the cross-functional execution of decided technical development activities. This to secure implementation of our product strategies primarily around ICE (Diesel/H2/LNG…) Heating & Cooling System-Hardware-Software, but also opportunities to work related to thermal management system-hardware of EV’s.
This position will report to the Group Manager for Thermal Management System & Hardware Group

You plan activities and timing for those with a cross-functional team and make sure the results will be delivered in the committed time meeting the agreed performance and quality level. You represent the technology team in various internal forums for development, budget, timing, and another metric status.
You undertake everything with drive and perseverance while showing consistency between words and actions. Flexibility and openness to change are necessary for the fast-moving environment where we act, and continuous improvement comes naturally to you.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s / master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar
- PMP / PMI-ACP or relevant certification is a plus.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in the development of mechatronic system
- Hands-on experience as Project Management / EPIC owner
- Skilled in product development following complete product life cycle activities and ability to challenge technically/process/methods.
- Technical leadership experience
- Knowledge of Thermal systems
- Supplier management experience
- Function/System/Component development responsibility in the automotive domain
- Ability to take responsibility and ownership.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Presentation skills to different levels with the organization
- Comprehensive knowledge of SAFe Agile Way of Working and mindset is a plus.
- Knowledge of ISO standard 26262, Functional Safety for development of Safety Functions is also a plus.
- Agile & SAFe certification is desired.
- Strong networking abilities and communication skills adapt to a multicultural environment.
- Extending the involvement in other organizational activities like Innovation Drive, Technical Design and development, Platform coordination, etc
- Good knowledge in Quality Management Systems (QMS), DFMEA, Project Assurance Plan, and other Quality tools
- Experience with Time & Budget management
- High customer and business focus

Your Future Team?
Thermal Management is a department within Vehicle Technology responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining an optimized cab climate and vehicle cooling & heating systems for all types of propulsion installations to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. We are responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering globally. We are located at Gothenburg & Bangalore and we have close cooperation with the sites in Greensboro and Lyon. We understand the final customer needs and apply our knowledge to develop technical concepts and solutions that satisfy customer and business needs. The work is based on innovation, shared technology, common architecture, and brand uniqueness
In this position, you will lead a long-term strategy and implementation of the Thermal management system with our system owners and thermal system architects. We are responsible for the CAB climate feature for Volvo Trucks and manager functional safety, Cyber security and proactive quality.
Your key responsibilities also includes:
- This position offers you the challenge to lead and be involved in technology development from advanced engineering through product development and into the maintenance phase.
- You will act on the global Volvo arena interacting with internal stakeholders across the globe as well as well-known suppliers in the industry.
- Specific focus will be on leading the team in developing the ICE products thermal management systems for trucks and support in securing the platform view to enable the needs of other Volvo Group Business functions – Buses, Penta, Construction and JV’s.
- Your role is to make sure the full global cross-functional Volvo team is well-aligned towards the final target, all the steps to come there, and to secure team as well as supplier deliveries during the development until the start of production.
- Key activities include, plan the right sequence of milestones, and align these milestones with concerned parties cross-functionally, make sure those will be met with quality, deal with deviations as they occur. In addition, you need to support and communicate across organizational boundaries, to safeguard the complete Thermal Management Sub-Stream delivery on time with quality.
