Chassis Structure and Battery Box team is a Group within the Section of Chassis Structure, Equipment and Transport adaptation within Chassis Department.

We are responsible for Leading and developing cutting edge design solutions for future sustainable transport in the area of Chassis Structure comprising of Frames and Crossmembers and Battery Box structure along with delivering solutions within Transport adaptation area. We have a diverse portfolio of Base Engine Vehicle, BEV, Fuel Cell and Alternate Fuels Vehicle to deliver in the coming years.

The candidate for this position will Design technical solutions according to given prerequisites (e.g., function, style, volume, geometry, costs, quality target and regulations) in mechanical areas and should be able to work independently on Battery Box module within Chassis Structure. Candidate will coordinate and perform complex Engineering tasks under minimal supervision, supporting the mission of the group, department and/or Volvo GTT.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and development of Advanced Structures like ESS , Battery Box Structure and other chassis structures as per truck market requirement
• Gathering all technical specifications and preparation of technical requirements document of the components.
• Detailed development of concepts and reviewing with cross-functional team
• Product release for Concept, Development, and Industrialization
• Work closely with partners & supplier for development of components.
• Addressing technical issues in coordination with the supplier and cross-functional team
• Define the verification and validation needs and ensure design fulfils the business targets/ requirements
• In your work, there will be frequent topics to manage with Global XFs and Suppliers around the world. Hence it is required to establish right participation & contribution to Advance Engineering and roadmaps as well
• Must be flexible & adaptable for the changes and needs of the organisation in different technical areas.

Qualifications and needed competences.

• B.E/M. E – Mech/Automobile Engineering with Relevant experience of 5-7 yrs
• Hands on work experience in Automotive Structural components
• Good knowledge of application of GD&T
• Have holistic view on deliverables from other interfaces to secure quality & readiness before release.
• Knowledge Chassis Equipment’s packaging, routing & development.
• Experience in heavy commercial vehicle industry, Competence and exposure to CAD Tools (CREO), Volvo Tools and Processes will be a plus
• Basic knowledge of Agile Way of working will be an advantage
