Your Future Team?
You’ll become part of a global, collaborative, cross-functional team consisting of System Design Engineers, Hardware and Software Component Owners, and Release Managers. With key teams based in Sweden, India, and Japan, we bring together diverse expertise to develop and deploy advanced embedded systems for commercial vehicles. We operate in an agile environment that encourages open communication, continuous learning.
What will you do?
As a Software Component Owner, you will be responsible for lifecycle management of critical software components within our vehicle control systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality, robust, and scalable software solutions aligned with Alliance partners and act as key interface to deploy shared innovations, contributing to the creation of highly reliable, affordable embedded technologies, below are key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the software component roadmap and ensuring alignment with Alliance Initiatives and strategy.
- Collaborate with system architects, developers, testers, and product owners to define and deliver high-quality software components.
- Participate in issue resolution, root cause analysis, and risk management related to your software component.
- Act as a primary contact and knowledge owner for your software component across the organization and with external partners.
- Manage and maintain part numbers, variant logic, and replacement chains in KOLA to support accurate product documentation and change control.
- Collaborate with Hardware Component Owners to define and document sub-HW dependencies and compatibility rules.
- Ensure diagnostic-related data (e.g., DTCs, parameters, routines) is accurately documented in SEWS and aligned with hardware configurations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of calibration needs, download times, and other hardware-specific routines for use in production and aftermarket.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering.
- 3–7 years of experience in the software development, preferably in automotive
- Familiarity with software development tools, version control (Git), and continuous
- integration/deployment pipelines.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and cross-functional teamwork.
- Good understanding of safety standards such as ISO 26262 is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with Volvo’s internal toolchain: KOLA, SW Configurator,
- SEWS, SANTA/MoJ, or comparable systems.
- knowledge of automotive diagnostic standards (UDS, DTCs)
- Understanding of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN.
- Documentation skills for managing configuration traceability and compliance.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
