Job Description for Intern (NATS Category): Metallurgy/Material Science Background
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in materials or mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong fundamentals in Metallurgy.
- Basic understanding of material properties and common processing methods (e.g., casting, forging, welding, machining).
- Expertise in Material characterization (Mechanical, Chemical & Microstructure).
- Good in problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative engineering environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating and selecting materials for automobile applications.
- Support material testing, validations, Failure analysis/root-cause analysis (RCA) at component level.
- Maintain and organize material data sheets, test reports, and interpretations.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Material Testing: Mechanical (Tensile, Hardness & Fatigue), Chemical (Spectroscopy) and microstructure (SEM).
- Hands on experience with material testing and microscopy is a plus.
- Knowledge on ISO and ASTM standards.
