The Electromobility organization is responsible for the complete development lifecycle of our electric powertrains – from advanced engineering through product development into the maintenance phase. The function has truly purpose-driven leadership and together we drive Electromobility transition based on cutting-edge engineering and state-of-the-art research within the Volvo Group. As the Group Manager for SW Control and Management, you will play a key role in developing the team and building capability & capacity to deliver various programs within Electromobility. You will lead a talented team of Software engineers to develop Software and functions that propel Electromobility forward. Reporting directly to Director Electronics and SW Engineering, you will have the opportunity to have a significant impact on our growth and success.

 

The team is responsible for design, development, Control and Management of inhouse Software for various functions e.g. Charging, Traction Voltage management. By understanding customer usage and product performance, the team provides solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle, from idea investigation, developing concepts to industrialization and maintenance. They are involved in technical decisions regarding projects and products, making sure that deadlines are met with the right quality and cost.  Your team works in very close co-operation with System engineers, Software developers, Test engineers, Project leaders within Electromobility and cross-functional teams from different parts of the organization locally & globally.

We believe you have strong domain expertise in electrical & electronics engineering, Software development for propulsion control, Charging, Traction Voltage Management, Battery management and Thermal management.  You have a strategic ability to understand, identify and adapt to future needs and challenges. Experience from a work environment where lean principles and agile development is a merit.  You thrive on teamwork, leveraging your skills to influence and empower others constructively and collaboratively. Using great communication skills on all levels, you are also a natural speaking partner, fostering networks, building trust and managing stakeholders through courage and integrity.

  • Balancing the Capacity with the workload, Budgeting & Infrastructure impacting the team.
  • Excel in Stake-holder Management and system thinking
  • Manage Competence development together with Performance management for the team members and support the team members to build employee journey from Aspire to Inspire.

 

What to bring: 

  • Bachelor or Master’s in electrical/ Electronics/Computer Engineering
  • 12+ years of experience in Software development in the automotive industry preferably in electric mobility domain.
  • Experienced in leading people and working with global organizations, with a strong passion for fostering people development and team growth
  • Strong drive and energy level with ability to create a high performing working culture 
  • Result oriented and always looking for improvements in our way of working 
  • Possesses strong personal credibility, integrity, and creativity
  • Excellent collaboration skills across the entire value chain and stakeholder management
  • Demonstrated ability to balance a strategic, holistic end-to-end view with operational considerations
