What you will do
At Volvo Construction Equipment you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large & “To Build the world we want to Live In” You will:
- Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations to deliver excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCEP) while driving lean transformation and a high-performance culture.
- Drive Production Excellence: Execute production plans to meet output, quality, and delivery targets with optimal resource utilization.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean/CIMP/Volvo Production System initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce cost, and eliminate waste.
- Safety & Quality Leadership: Build a strong safety and quality culture; ensure ISO compliance and customer focus across operations.
- Performance Management: Monitor KPIs, track line performance, and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.
- People Leadership: Develop, coach, and engage teams; ensure training, capability building, and high employee engagement.
- Maintenance Oversight: Ensure equipment reliability and maximum uptime through effective maintenance planning.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with ME, Quality, PPC, Warehouse, and P&C to resolve issues and improve efficiency.
- Workforce Planning: Drive manpower planning, hiring, and shopfloor capability development.
- Risk & Governance: Proactively manage deviations, risks, and escalation mechanisms for operational effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Align teams to consistently deliver business goals and customer expectations in collaboration with Technology, Purchasing & Sales functions.
Who are you?

- Experience of 13 – 16 years in automotive or construction equipment production, quality hands-on with heavy machinery like Excavators, Loaders, Haulers, Compactors.
- Keen eye to Safety and 5S. Strong understanding of ISO and HIRA practices
- Strong project management skills, project leadership experience, and a acumen for digital transformation (Excel dashboards, Power BI).
- Bachelor's/ Master' s in Mechanical / Automotive Engineering; Engineering (Industrial & Production Engineering/ Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering)
- Exposure of working with unionized workforce environment with hands on experience of wage settlement would be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of mechanical & Hydraulic systems.
- Well versed with the disciplinary management of shop floor workforce
- Able to speak in Kannada will be an added advantage.
- Problem solving through systematic approaches (7 QC Tools, Six Sigma, 8D etc.)
- Lean / Six Sigma
- Through understanding of Kaizen, Poka-yoke, Quality Circles, SGAs and zeal to drive these initiatives through team.
- Have good knowledge of working with Automation & Digitalization.
