GTP Purchasing Strategy & Digitalization function within Volvo Group Purchasing is a Centre of Excellence. We are responsible for driving and facilitating the strategic direction of purchasing on behalf of Executive Management Team.
PS&D are, together with relevant line functions, driving efficiency within digitalization, governance, harmonization, group synergies, continuous improvements and digital & IT projects to enable business value. We work proactively with change management and transformation in collaboration with GTP line functions.

Mission
As Head of C&F, Metals, Base Engine & Combustion Purchasing India, you drive and manage performance of your department from QDCF-TSR standpoint. You will lead a team of commodity and Project Buyers located in Bangalore, and be responsible for Suppliers located in India delivering to multiple Global & local Volvo group Plants. You will manage the QCDF-TSR from these Suppliers at our Plants, Distribution centers & Customers. You will work collaboratively within GTP as well with PFM Purchasing strategic line organization. You will also work collaboratively with Technology, After market, Operations, Supplier Network Quality, Logistics & Cost engineering teams.
Reporting To: Head of India Purchasing & GTP India
Location: Bangalore
Main Responsibilities
- Be a member in GTP-India site management team and in an active way contribute to the development of the India Site & India supply base
- You will be responsible for managing the relationship with Suppliers
- You would drive and lead the Purchasing activities in accordance with defined strategies and targets
- Ensure right suppliers are sourced thro proper sourcing governance including approval for SSR cases
- You will be responsible for mitigation activities for all Supplier Quality, Delivery, Cost & Feature issues
- Ensure KPI fulfillment and performance results
- Engage with suppliers to tap and leverage on innovation / new technologies by periodically conducting supply market intelligence
- You will be responsible to drive all sustainability initiatives thro suppliers by enabling cross functional ideas
- Ensure the Suppliers have the required capacity both short-term to deliver according to EDI schedules as well to build capacity on long term based on LTVF
- Drive department activities towards wanted position
- Secure needed communication with cross functional teams
- Secure supplier involvement in project activities and manage escalations
- Manage QDCF- TSR targets of the supplier
- Manage resources by attracting, recruiting best talents, Manage competence development and retain competent resources
- You will be responsible for compliance in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values.
Competence & Experience
- University degree in Engineering/technology and/or Business Administration
- Good communication skills
- Strong people management skills
- Good negotiation & interpersonal skills
- Able to execute in a multi-cultural organization
- Anticipate & act quickly and directly. Provide direct & actionable feedback
- Able to handle uncertainty and the unexpected. Holds things together during tough times
