About the role
As Head of Operations - VCE India, you will have full responsibility for the manufacturing facility’s profitability, development, and day-to-day operations. You will act as site leader, coordinating all on-site functions to drive local initiatives, address challenges, and foster collaboration across teams.
You will guide plant operations to achieve targets in safety, quality, production, delivery, and customer satisfaction, while ensuring a supportive environment for employee growth and development. Balancing the needs of employees, customers, owners, and society will be central to your role.
In this role you will be a key member of the Global Operations Management Team of VCE, the VCE India Management Team, and the Volvo Group India Country Management Team. In these roles, you will represent not only operations, but also the shared goals and vision of the organization. Your leadership will foster a culture of ownership, autonomy, and diversity, encouraging open dialogue, challenging established thinking, and promoting continuous improvement across all functions.
Furthermore you will play a central role in shaping our industrial footprint in India, evaluating opportunities for expansion, local sourcing, and supply base development to support our growth ambitions.

Ideal experience
- Proven senior leadership experience in operations, with a demonstrated track record of driving performance improvement and business transformation, preferably within the automotive, construction equipment, or heavy machinery industries.
- Strong experience in leading end-to-end manufacturing operations, including assembly, fabrication, machining, painting, logistics, and supply chain management.
- Hands-on expertise in supply base expansion, manufacturing capability building, and operational scale-up initiatives.
- Deep understanding and practical application of Lean manufacturing principles and operational excellence strategies.
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, resilient teams and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Strong commitment to sustainability, health, safety, and environment (HSE), and quality excellence.
- Skilled in stakeholder management, including engagement with suppliers, dealers, customers, and labor unions.
- Comfortable navigating multicultural, global settings and contributing to global discussions.
- Exposure to automation, digitalization, and data analytics within manufacturing operations.
- Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
