Position Summary:

 

Volvo Group University is responsible for conducting orientation sessions for new joiners, enabling cultural integration of employees, and performing training needs analysis to align training initiatives with business needs.

The Head of Volvo Group University, India, will oversee the Learning and Development (L&D) function for all business units of Volvo Group India Pvt. Ltd. This role will be accountable for setting country L&D agenda & operational plan, leading experts to design, deliver, and manage learning initiatives like development programs, leadership coaching etc. and ensure operational excellence in training delivery. The role holder will align country business requirements with Volvo Group global objectives and ensure global consistency on learning demand analysis, design, development and delivery while securing regional VGU support to local business perspectives, and processes. The role holder will lead a team of around 15 professionals in learning and development domain

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and develop a strategy, roadmap and resource plan for the Volvo Group University function in India to achieve the planned objectives
  • Work towards ensuring global VGU portfolio is fit for India, and becomes a channel to Volvo group University from India
  • Be an advocate for India and APAC, in terms of business needs and solutions in designing global portfolios and ensure regional needs are met
  • Building a strong network with Business and People and Culture in India and the learning network globally to drive VGU agenda
  • Leverage global learning portfolio and drive localization of design and development of learning offerings when necessary
  • Lead transformation of learning experience for the business and the learning team by leveraging the latest technology (AI tools) into learning solutions, LMS solutions etc.
  • Facilitate regional and local Trainer/SME networks for local training on behalf of the Academies
  • Lead learning team in the country and represent Volvo Group University in different leadership forums / meetings.
  • Support Employer Branding/VGU Identity and Group Communication within the region.
  • Be responsible for and continually inspire, develop and motivate the people resources within and around VGU
  • Champion the culture aimed at giving a strong image of the function and being in line with AB Volvo values and principles (The Volvo Way, Code of Conduct etc.)

Required competencies:

Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively, demonstrating Volvo leadership principles and leadership capabilities

Consultative Approach: Consultative mindset to approach and address business needs.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to diagnose business needs, set learning agenda and align initiatives with business goals.

Innovation: Ability to ideate novel solutions to meet business objectives

Adaptability: Capacity to adapt to changing business needs and environments.

Collaboration: Ability to work with matrixed organization, cross-functional teams and external stakeholders like vendors through influencing and solution focus

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.

Extensive experience in developing L&D strategy and agenda, managing team of L&D professionals, deploying L&D portfolio for professional workforce and delivering operational excellence in L&D is required.

Minimum of 15 years in Human Resource Management/ Business roles, with considerable experience in Learning and Development, including at least 5 years in a leadership role preferred.
