What you will do

The Onsite Technician Senior provides application and infrastructure support for the Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) end users for Time Critical Support (TCS) areas. This position is part of the GTT onsite team within the Data & Simulation Platform organization of GTT located in Bangalore. The Onsite Technician’s advance role is to secure GTT Engineering activities. This position will also act as main contact for stakeholders in Bangalore and act as team lead for the local and global team that is focusing on roll out and support of Hardware in the Loop infrastructure (HIL).  

In this role, it is critical to work together with local and global colleagues to deliver support and new & upgraded infrastructure for business solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, Windows/Mac OS, LAN (wired and wireless), Windows client solutions for office and Test/Lab (Volvo client solutions like MyPlace, FactoryPlace) and specialized engineering devices such as Test Cell equipment, HIL, VR, IoT etc. This position performs analytical, technical, and administrative work to support local users and test cells environment.

Core Responsibilities

•    Time Critical Support (TCS) of Engineering applications and infrastructure solutions for Test and Lab environment.
•    Secure the stakeholder connection for anchoring rollouts, time plans and quality follow up.
•    Collaborate with global support technicians in troubleshooting and resolving infrastructure and end-user problems.
•    Secure the local SLA dialogue with selected stakeholders.
•    Act as team leader for the local time critical support technician team in Bangalore by growing a self-driven team.
•    Secure in-depth knowledge for FactoryPlace PC environment and GTT’s own gateway solution. Act as 2nd level support on site.
•    Use delegated authority from global operations teams to manage local infrastructure solutions.
•    Provide continual communication/feedback to end-users to understand their requirements and setting the appropriate expectations.
•    Install and configure Client systems (Hardware, software, applications, communications, and peripherals)
•    Perform scheduled/unscheduled upgrades to machines to maintain a safe & secure network due to OS vulnerabilities and virus outbreaks.
•    Manage engineering computers for end-users
•    On-call support
•    Participate in global projects that have an impact on the local business, as needed

  • ITIL Foundation certified

Experience Required

  • Two years’ experience in an Engineering Environment.
  • IT network competence is a plus
  • Five years of IT experience including hardware, software, and network support.
