GTP APAC is an organization within GTP that takes an end-to-end responsibility for purchasing related activities in the APAC region. The countries in scope are China, South Korea & South-East Asia, Australia, South Africa and India with the GTP APAC headquarters based in Bangalore, India.

Mission

As Lead Legal and Compliance Counsel, GTP APAC, you are accountable for all aspects of Legal and Compliance needs arising from Purchasing activities in the APAC region.

Reporting To:   The successful candidate will report directly to the General Counsel and Senior Vice President Legal & Compliance within GTP and will assume a pivotal role within the management team of the APAC region.

Location:  Bangalore India

Colleagues: Additionally, will collaborate closely with our global GTP L&C team situated across Europe (Sweden and France), North America (USA), and Asia (China) as well as collaborating with all the legal community in the countries in APAC and the commercial legal support of the group. 

Description of main responsibilities – Here's what you will be: 

• The First Point of Contact: Serving as the go-to authority and being accountable for all legal or compliance matters within the region. 
• A Risk Navigator: Identifying, evaluating, and addressing legal and compliance risks. 
• A Strategic Legal and Compliance Business Partner: Providing expert counsel, you'll shape the legal, compliance and regulatory landscape in alignment with business imperatives. Your articulate explanations of facts, policies, and best practices will guide and influence others. 
• The Master of Documents: Innovating, crafting, drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and approving a spectrum of legal documents with clarity and precision. 
• The Architect of Solutions: Designing and implementing tailored legal and compliance frameworks. Staying ahead of the curve, you'll offer proactive guidance to our dynamic business team in your area of expertise. 
• The Compliance Champion: Ensuring seamless implementation of Volvo Group Compliance programs within your sphere of influence. 
• The Project Maestro: Taking charge of large-scale projects, you'll shepherd them from inception to completion, ensuring legal compliance every step of the way. 
• A Litigation Gladiator: Possibly representing our organization in litigation, arbitration, or mediation. 
• A Coach and Team Player: Actively contributing to the GTP L&C team, you'll coach, review, and delegate tasks, nurturing the skills of our department’s legal and compliance professionals. 

Who are you? Are you a legal dynamo, fuelled by a fervent passion for both direct and indirect purchasing contracts with an excellent knowledge of African, Middle East, Asian & Pacific markets?  

Have you spent the past decade skilfully navigating legal and compliance complexities, collaborating closely with business stakeholders to navigate the intricacies of purchasing contracts and compliance challenges in the said markets? 

Are you prepared to contribute both to Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing (GTP) and to its Legal and Compliance (GTP L&C) team, nestled in India? 

If so, today is your lucky day!   We need you who are

• An excellent and very experienced lawyer (at least 15 years PQE) with unquestionable ethics having strong credentials working for a global company with regional (covering the referenced markets) duties for both Legal and for Ethics and Compliance / Integrity department(s). Your experience as a compliance officer (with good knowledge of European compliance regulations) will be valued.
• You’re a Swiss knife: From pioneering new business models to navigating standard contractual setups and negotiations in a broad variety of all purchasing related matters arising in the region, you enjoy this broad scope, and your expertise knows no bound and is recognized by the business folks and peers.
• You can translate vision into actions and vice versa.  You undertake such actions. You are a solution-provider, but you also know when to draw the line to safeguard the Company. 
• You are autonomous but enjoy teamwork. You wish to contribute to Volvo Group’s end to end success
• You are an enthusiast with a playful spirit and excellent English skills, including legal (technical) English proficiency, is a real must. Fluency and proficiency in additional languages (relevant to the region) are highly valued, and a solid understanding of the automotive business is advantageous.
