We are looking for a Product Quality Lead for our Operations team that is highly motivated to apply their expertise and knowledge in finding innovative and cost effective means to improve the quality of our products.
This position will require you to think with a systemic view that focuses on the customer and business needs. You will work collaboratively with the different stakeholders in operations, purchasing, technology and sales to ensure Bangalore product always meets customer satisfactions. In your work you will embrace all three principles of the Volvo CE philosophy: Flow, Continuous Improvement, and Perform & Develop.
Responsibility
- Drive preventive quality planning and execution using structured methodologies such as PFMEA, white books.
- Participate in Design Review meetings to proactively integrate field, Zero-hr., warranty and in-house build feedback into design and manufacturing. Conduct rigorous Product and In-Process audits and manage necessary quality documentation in line with ISO requirements.
- Review and provide feedback on the fitment and performance of components to ensure the effective closure of PPAP.
- Ensure Built-In quality by minimizing dependency on end-of-line inspections, driving process capability and identifying opportunities for automation and poka-yoke.
- Well-versed in end-of-line and functional testing for earth-moving equipment, with an eye for detail to ensure superior fit and finish, meets stringent global export readiness standards and drives customer delight.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration (Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Service) to ensure consistent product quality and “Right First Time” outcomes.
- Conduct customer site visits to gather firsthand data on product performance and lead root cause analysis in the event of failures.
- Analyze product performance data and customer feedback to identify trends, establish KPIs and driving issue closure through structured problem-solving (8D, Six Sigma, 7QC tools).
- Lead the "Factory of Tomorrow" transition by driving the adoption of digital quality tools, predictive systems and analytics to shift from a reactive to a proactive culture.
- Collaborate closely with the IT team to identify opportunities and implement AI-driven solutions for automating mundane tasks and improving overall operational efficiency.
- Manage cost center, formulate budget plans and collaborate with suppliers for the procurement of shipment-related parts.
Skills Needed:
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes
- Expertise in structured problem-solving methodologies (Lean Six Sigma, 8D, 7QC tools)
- Good project management exposure by leading CFT to elevate manufacturing standards.
- Strong analytical capability with ability to derive insights from data and convert into actions
- Working knowledge of quality systems and audits (product & process audits)
- Familiarity with SAP QM or equivalent quality management systems
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive accountability
- Agile mindset with high ownership, curiosity, and result orientation
- Passionate, Inquisitive, Assertive and Demanding
Needed relevant experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical/Mechatronics/Industrial Engineering)
- Min 7~9 years of experience in Construction Equipment, Heavy Engineering, Agricultural Industries or Automobile Industries.
- Knowledge about the SAP QM Module.
- Good understanding of Welding and Hydraulic circuits.
- Demonstrated experience in driving quality strategy and leading cross-functional teams
