Position Description

Volvo is driving several exciting transformation projects and initiatives to digitalize our business processes, leverage the value of data, and become a fully data-driven company. We are part of Core Platform Area PLM/PDM group part of the Technology function within Volvo group Digital & IT working to modernize the Volvo Group PLM solutions and to increase efficiency through our current set of digital and IT solutions.

 

You will be part of an engaged and kind team in an international and multicultural environment and within a department developing our future IT solutions in the Product Lifecycle Management domain.

 

Role mission & context

Our existing IT solutions in PLM Analytics comprises of a mix of varied technologies like Java, Commercial Off the shelf (COTS) IT solutions – PTC Thingworx and Azure tools for DevSecOps setup

The team's purpose is to develop PLM Analytics solutions to support our Engineers to know the complete Part information, CAD quality information and visualize the product for different business capability needs across the value chain.

In this role, you will engage with customers to understand their needs and deliver solutions that align with their business requirements, utilizing a variety of technologies (COTS or others), products, and platforms.

Key Responsibilities in your role as Solution Engineer

  • Take the lead in delivering the identified solutions.
  • Provide comprehensive functional and non-functional requirements and specifications for proposed solutions, including timelines and scope.
  • Collaborate closely with Product teams to ensure that products and solutions are available and functioning correctly.
  • Ensure that the developed solution adheres to established architecture guidelines, specifications, and quality requirements set by business partners, while also ensuring the use of standards, tools, and platforms.
  • Identify and suggest solutions and features that align with the product.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and drive system/solution improvements.
  • Analyze current technologies in use, conduct technology monitoring, and develop prototypes and Proof of Concepts.
  • Document and track requirements that are necessary for implementing proposed updates, such as legal, customer experience, or other considerations.

Who are you?

  • Having a broad understanding of 3D CAD, PLM/PDM Platforms and tools (Preferably PTC)
  • Experience in PLM domain, process management, requirement management.
  • Experience in working with different capabilities in PTC Thingworx Solution
  • Having experience in Product development processes, preferable in the automotive domain.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and break it down to help team to develop IT solutions.
  • Exposure to Volvo PLM/PDM IT solutions is a plus
  • Experience in an agile way of working.
  • You are comfortable working with various stakeholders, navigate with ease in a multi-cultural environment and delivering results as a team.
  • Having a University Degree in Engineering or similar qualification.
  • You have good communication & presentation skills.
