Job Summary

 

The Project Manager manages a cross fucntional project Team in the product development process according to the product backlog established by the Chief Engineer (Product Owner).  The Project Manager identifies and pro-actively manages relevant commercial, industrial, technical, and organizational issues in the projects, and initiates steps to counteract those issues.  The Project Manager reports status and communicates relevant issues / deviations to the Product Platform & Strategy head and the Project Steering Committee.

 

Main Tasks/ Responsibilities/Authorities:

 

  • Manages and supervises the technology team members project delieverables and directs the cross functional team members.
  • Manages the project timeline as per Volvo process, making the process work
  • Plans the releases
  • Plans the Sprints
  • Removes impediments
  • Shields the team from external interferences
  • Facilitates:
    • Daily Scrum Meetings
    • Sprint Planning Meetings (Part 1 & 2)
    • Sprint Review Meeting
    • Sprint Retrospective Meeting
  • Attend Scrum Master Sharing Sessions
  • Ensures crystal clear communication among everyone involved in the project
  • Manages employee PBP’s and guides team member development
  • Manage the cross-functional Project Team and the deliverables based on PAP
  • Responsible for completing projects within budget constraints presented by product owner.
  • Develop main time schedule in coordination with the Product Owner
  • Establish required routines and decision-making processes within the project
  • Identify main risks and establish mitigation plan/activities
  • Display and secure project progress
  • Arrange meetings/reviews with relevant reference groups
  • Establish project assessments and status reporting
  • Inform, communicate, and cooperate with functional management ( Technology, Marketing, P&SM, Manufacturing, CST)
  • Manage and prepare for Global production in a relevant project
  • Contribute to definition of PPD strategy and suggest improvements to PPD Process
  • Secure fulfillment of decided Business Case
  • Lead Early Phase to secure project success

Required Knowledge & Experience

 

Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree is required
  2. 8-10 years Experience from project management within extensive projects
  3. 5 years of product related experience
  4. Some knowledge about the Volvo Global Development Process (GDP)
  5. Good cross functional coordination capability
  6. Some Knowledge of customer application requirements
  7. Some knowledge of major machine functions and systems.
  8. Some technical knowledge of end product and sub-systems.
  9. Business driven mindset and holistic approach. Ability to identify and deliver solutions securing profitability from an overall enterprise perspective.
  10. Proficient in written and spoken English is required

 

 

Additional Important Requirements:

 

  1. Strong leadership skills.
  2. Good knowledge of PC (Excel, Ms Word, Power Point, etc.)
  3. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, the ability to create bridges for information exchange between functions and between locations.
  4. Creativity and innovative thinking
  5. Good Presentation and interpersonal skills
  6. International experience coupled with a good understanding of cultural issues is desired.
  7. Must be able to walk through the production facility to work with manufacturing personnel during machine build trials.  Must be able to operate and test machines.
