Job Summary

As a Release Train Engineer (RTE), you will serve as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), facilitating ART events, removing impediments, managing risks, and driving relentless improvement. You will work closely with teams, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Managers and stakeholders to ensure alignment, transparency, and efficient delivery of value.
This role requires a strong command of Agile principles and SAFe practices, along with exceptional leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Program & ART Facilitation

Facilitate all key SAFe events such as PI Planning, Scrum of Scrums, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and system demos.
Own and continuously improve the ART’s operating model and ceremonies.
Present the train's draft and final PI planning outcomes, including risks and dependencies.
Coordinate stakeholder meetings and PI confidence vote collection. 

Tool & Process Support

Facilitate the effective use of tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence,Mural) to enable collaboration and transparency across teams.
Ensure backlogs and epics, capabilities are visible, well maintained, and reflect priorities accurately.
Guide Scrum Masters and teams in applying the Agile Way of Working (WoW) where needed. 

Communication & Reporting

Provide clear, consistent updates on train progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
Inform the train and stakeholders about the results of ongoing Program Increments.
Support documentation and communication of current program status and next steps.
Collaborate with architects, PPL representatives, and other stakeholders for upcoming priorities, when needed as that is done by Product Owners 

Issue Management & Continuous Improvement

Proactively manage and escalate risks, issues, or deviations from the plan.
Identify and mandate quality improvements for capabilities (CAPs) when necessary.
Drive and participate in cross-train improvement initiatives (e.g., PI Core Team, SAFe process improvements).
Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the train

Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
Act as a liaison between the ART and other teams or departments.
Host weekly follow-up meetings to address team questions and stakeholder inquiries.
Encourage and endorse team involvement in solution demos.
Product Owners and Scrum Masters in bi-weekly follow-ups and Scrum of Scrums

Leadership & Governance
Be part of the Leadership Management Team for broader alignment and oversight.
Help align ART-level delivery with organizational goals.
Promote transparency, alignment, and team cohesion throughout the ART.

Required Qualification

  • Proven experience as a Release Train Engineer or equivalent Agile leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of SAFe and Agile frameworks.
  • Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies across multiple teams.
  • Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, and other Agile tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead through influence and servant leadership.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAFe RTE Certification.
  • Experience in large-scale Agile transformations.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to coach and mentor Scrum Masters and Agile teams.
