What do we do?
Electromobility R&D in Bangalore is a young, dynamic and growing organization. We work in close cooperation with colleagues across globe to develop solutions and components which will electrify Volvo vehicles and contribute for a sustainable future. At the ESS (Energy Storage System), section we´re responsible for the global battery solution. In Electrical & Electronics Hardware group, we´re responsible for all ingoing HV components, wiring and busbars.We are now looking for a Senior EDS Electrical design engineer.
What will you do?
In this role, you will serve as a pivotal member of our product development team. As part of this position, you will lead the breakdown of requirements for the dimensioning of the Electrical Distribution System (EDS) and wiring systems across all our battery projects. You will also engage in design and validation processes. Our development approach emphasizes collaboration, so you will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that we effectively monitor supplier deliveries to guarantee the high-quality products our customers expect and deserve.

Key Responsibilities:
- Define electrical and interface requirements for Battery Pack EDS components based on system-level specifications, HV/LV E&E interfaces, and overall electric architecture.
- Develop and maintain wiring schematics in Saber, including wire sizing, connector selection, and electrical simulations for voltage drop, thermal behaviour, and load balancing.
- Ensure compliance with electrical validation requirements, including simulation results and physical test plans.
- Ensure proper grounding, shielding, and harness routing in accordance with automotive high-voltage safety standards.
- Provide technical specifications and validation criteria for EDS components such as wiring harnesses, busbars, connectors, terminals, fuses, and insulation materials.
- Drive DFMEA activities for EDS components—identify risks, evaluate failure modes, and implement design mitigations.
- Lead and participate in design reviews (peer, cross-functional, and supplier) to ensure robust product definition and clear system interfaces.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including BMS, mechanical, thermal, GA/GAE, simulation, purchasing, supplier, and GTO teams to ensure optimized system integration.
- Support continuous improvement through design updates, lessons learned, and promotion of reusable, modular design practices.
Competence and relevant experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in automotive EDS electrical design and development, with specific experience in high-voltage battery systems.
- Proficiency in Saber tools for schematic creation, simulation and 2D drawing.
- Deep understanding of Busbar materials, wire harness materials, routing guidelines, connector systems, and validation protocols.
- Strong experience in DFMEA, design reviews, and applying root cause analysis tools in a structured engineering environment.
- Solid knowledge of high voltage electrical fundamental, electrical testing, high-voltage safety, DVP development process, and interaction with component suppliers.
