What do we do?
Electromobility R&D in Bangalore is a young, dynamic and growing organization. We work in close cooperation with colleagues across globe to develop solutions and components which will electrify Volvo vehicles and contribute for a sustainable future. At the ESS (Energy Storage System), section we´re responsible for the global battery solution. In Electrical & Electronics Hardware group, we´re responsible for all ingoing HV components, wiring and busbars . We are now looking for a Senior EDS Electrical design engineer.
What you will do
In this role, you will serve as a EDS component engineer. As part of this position, you will take end-to-end ownership of the design, development, validation, and lifecycle management of wiring harnesses in high-voltage battery systems. This role requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on expertise in both high-voltage and low-voltage harness design, with a focus on meeting product safety, reliability, and performance requirements in HV battery pack applications.

Key Responsibilities
- Component Engineer for Battery Pack Wiring Harness (HV/LV) and lead all associated technical activities.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and thermal interfaces to ensure complete system integration.
- Define and manage technical requirements, lead component design and development in close coordination with suppliers, adhering to Volvo GTT standards and processes.
- Align Review of Technical Specifications with suppliers to ensure clarity and compliance.
- Ensure wiring packaging feasibility, integration with battery pack architecture, and manufacturability in collaboration with packaging, installation, and production teams.
- Investigate and resolve field and test-related issues, perform root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety, EMC, and functional safety standards relevant to energy storage systems.
Required Competencies & Experience
- 8–10 years of experience in automotive HV wiring harness or electrical system design and development.
- Strong understanding of wiring harness components: connectors, terminals, clips, wires, insulation, etc.
- Proficiency in high-voltage system components (e.g., contactors, fuses, resistors, connectors, BMS interfaces).
- Deep knowledge of wiring harness development lifecycle: packaging, schematic creation, electrical & thermal analysis, and manufacturability.
- Experience with Creo 3D for harness design and Saber 2D for electrical schematics and bundle drawings.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices for energy storage systems, such as functional safety standards.
- Hands-on experience with DFMEA, DFA, DFS, DFM, and risk analysis methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with suppliers, including alignment on technical specifications and delivery timelines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with Volvo GTT systems, tools, and development processes is a strong plus.
