Role And Responsibilities

In this role as a Senior Engineer – Cab Climate, you will fulfill the following responsibilities:

 

  • Engineering Task leader &/ Component owner for selected Climate components like HVAC, Air Inlet, Evacuators , Valves and so on.
  • Ownership of complete QDCF (Quality, Delivery, Cost & Feature) in deliverables
  • Lead both cross-functional team within Volvo and supplier in development of designed concepts
  • Responsible to secure the system and End User Function requirements
  • Define level 4 (component/system) time plan including the most important cross functional mile-stones using APQP as the supporting process
  • Take full engineering responsibility, independently deliver the tasks in Climate Tech area as well as guide junior staff within Climate Team.
  • Accountable to manage Climate Components and System development using mandatory Q-Tools like, D-FMEA, S-FMEA, Risk register,  DFA(Manufacturing) & DFAM(After Market)
  • Initiate and lead Advanced Engineering work in area of responsibility

 

Your role is cross-functional, which means you will work in projects within the whole Volvo GTT organization and closely collaborate with global cross functional teams

We Are Thermal Management Team

Thermal Management is a department within Vehicle Technology responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining an optimized cab climate and vehicle cooling & heating systems for all types of propulsion installations to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. We are responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering globally. We are located at Bangalore & Gothenburg, and we have close cooperation with the vehicle engineering sites in Greensboro, Curitiba and Lyon.

On our exciting adventure to develop the future at Volvo Group, we are now looking for a dynamic and experienced individual for the role of Senior Engineer – Cab Climate in the Thermal Management Cab Climate Components and System team.

Who are you?

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with the following qualifications and requirements: -

  • ME/MTech/BE/BTech in Thermal/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or similar with 4-10 years of experience
  • Experience in the field of Thermal Management system engineering
  • In depth knowledge of the product development life cycle and change management activities for maintenance are required for this role
  • Developing robust time plans for the components according to project milestones and validating the design through virtual and physical verifications
  • Solid Hands-on experience in Developing Climate Component and Systems
  • Should have excellent Cad skills (CATIA V5) for concept creation
  • Working experience in Climate component and system Testing
  • Leading tasks independently, good planning and monitoring skills
  • Should have experience in leading small teams
  • Should have knowledge of Plastic Components manufacturing
  • Experience in Future Technologies (e-MOB, Fuel Cell), 1D Simulations and material selection is a Merit
  • Working knowledge in PDMLINK ,  CREO preferred
  • Knowledge in Volvo GTT development process and tools is a plus
  • Working Knowledge of Global standards for different markets is a plus
  • Working knowledge of overall truck and especially Cab architecture is a plus
  • Innovative and creative mindset to provide engineering solutions and concepts
  • Should be good in compiling and presenting information verbally and in writing
  • Willingness to learn and develop your own skills and abilities.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural global environment
  • Exposure to vehicle testing and correlation to virtual analysis.
  • Good knowledge of Truck / Car complex systems and Thermal Management (ICE-BEV-Fuel cell drivelines, cab climate)
  • Experience working in a global environment with several sites and external partners
