Your Future Team

The Powertrain System & Components (PE-S&C) team within Powertrain Engineering Bangalore is responsible for delivering Powertrain Electronic Systems and Components for different Business Areas like Trucks, Buses, Penta, VCE in the Volvo Group.

We are seeking a highly motivated & skilled Electrical & Electronics Engineer with an overview of internal combustion engines (IC Engines), liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines, fuel cell technology (FCEV), and hydrogen internal combustion engines (H2 ICE). This role will be responsible for technical deliveries and maintenance of electrical & electronics component development on both conventional and alternative fuel technologies. This role involves collaborating with our global counterparts across multiple sites like France, Sweden, USA

Who are you?

  • You are responsible for technical deliveries and maintenance of component development.
  • You execute global work to harmonize the development for electrical & electronics component area develop, release, and support.
  • You ensure all the cross-functional requirements are well incorporated into the design from the aftermarket, manufacturing, purchasing, and other Powertrain product streams (Base Engine, Combustion, EATS (Exhaust After Treatment System), Certification needs, Verification, and Validation needs.
  • You bring innovative and creative mindset to provide engineering solutions and concepts.

What will you do

  • Responsibility for Global Component Ownership of Starter Motors, Alternators, Relays, Sensors, etc.
  • Collect written or documented in other formats, component requirements based on feature/function/appearance requirements, and system/architecture/platform requirements.
  • Write and be responsible for the Technical Requirements Specification connected to the component (Starter Motors, Alternators, Relays, Sensors, etc) according to the elicited requirements.
  • Familiarity with EMC, ESD, and environmental standards (e.g., ISO 16750 , IEC 61000, ISO 11452 , etc ).
  • Work together with Purchasing in the request for quotation and participate in the evaluation of technical solutions from the different suppliers and the selection of a supplier.
  • Participate in the decision of which quality tools to use and in the usage of these quality tools, e.g. FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis), RCA (Root Cause Analysis), PAA (Product Application Agreement), RTS (Review of Technical Specifications), etc., for the design and development of the component.
  • Experience in the verification and validation process for component development.
  • Interface to SQA: participate in PPAP(Production Part Approval Process).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols like  CAN, LIN, Functional Safety ISO26262, Cyber Security ISO21434, and ASPICE ISO15504 implementation of Powertrain E&E component development. 
  • Responsible for the design and development of the component w.r.t to the Technical Requirement with Quality, Delivery, Cost and Feature (QDCF).
  • Responsible for the Maintenance (Aftermarket) of the component w.r.t to the component life cycle.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s/master’s degree in EE, mechatronics or similar degree program.
  • 7+ years of experience in automotive electrical design & development of new components
  • Strong truck application knowledge, with working experience with Powertrain Components like Starter Motors, Alternators, Relays, Sensors, etc.
  • Strong hands-on technical experience in Electrical/Electronic engineering and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of Software, Functional development, Diagnostics, and System platform development will be an added advantage.
