Position Overview

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. You will collaborate with a team of developers, solution engineer’s and architect to maintain and enhance our applications.

Job Requirements:

RMS supports insurance and liability claims for transportation systems. In this role, you contribute to the design and development of distributed applications and cross-functional solutions within Digital & IT CPA Production Logistics, with a strong focus on Core Java–based technologies. You work as part of an agile product or solution development team, developing, enhancing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend services that deliver maximum business value from IT investments.

 

You collaborate closely with solution architects and cross-functional stakeholders to align technical implementations with architectural principles, coding standards, and best practices. Your primary responsibility is to make sound technical decisions in Java-centric solutions, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and alignment with business requirements. You actively participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, and may also take on functional or technical leadership responsibilities within the team. We are seeking a Software Engineer with 5–15 years of experience possessing the following skill set:

 

Must Have skills:

  • Proficiency in Java: Strong understanding of core Java concepts such as object-oriented programming, inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and exception handling.
  • Database Management: Experience with database technologies such as SQL (Structured Query Language) and JDBC (Java Database Connectivity).
  • Web Development: Ability to develop web applications using Java EE (Enterprise Edition) technologies such as Servlets, JSP (JavaServer Pages), JPA (Java Persistence API), and knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Version Control Systems: Experience with version control systems like Git for collaborative development and code management.
  • Build Automation and Dependency Management: Familiarity with build tools such as Maven for automating the build process and managing project dependencies.
  • APIs: Knowledge of IBM products like WMQ (WebSphere Message Queue), WebSphere server and IBM DB2 database. Understanding of building and consuming RESTful web services using frameworks like Spring Boot, JAX-RS (Java API for RESTful Web Services), or Jersey.

Good to Have skills:

  • Knowledge of Java APIs: Familiarity with commonly used Java APIs for collections, concurrency, I/O, networking, and other core functionalities.
  • Security: Awareness of common security vulnerabilities and best practices for securing Java applications against threats like SQL injection, XSS (Cross-Site Scripting), CSRF (Cross-Site Request Forgery), etc.
  • Understanding of JVM: Knowledge of Java Virtual Machine (JVM) internals, memory management, garbage collection, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Testing: Proficiency in writing unit tests using frameworks like JUnit and integration tests using tools like Mockito or PowerMock.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Understanding of CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment of Java applications using tools like Jenkins or GitHub.
  • Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile development environments, understanding of Scrum or Kanban methodologies, and proficiency in tools like Jira for project management

 

Soft Skills:

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse complex problems, debug issues efficiently, and propose effective solutions.
  • Team Leadership: Take lead on team activities and drive business initiatives and mentor other team members.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, designers, and product managers.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated with the latest Java developments, best practices, and emerging technologies through self-learning, online courses, workshops, or conferences.
