We Are Thermal Management Team
Thermal Management is a department within Vehicle Technology responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining an optimized cab climate and vehicle cooling & heating systems for all types of propulsion installations to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. We are responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering globally. We are located at Bangalore, Curitiba & Gothenburg, and we have close cooperation with the vehicle engineering sites in USA, Australia and France.

Who are you?
On our exciting adventure to develop the future at Volvo Group, we are now looking for a dynamic and experienced individual for the role of Senior System engineer Heating & Cooling System in the Thermal Management Vehicle System and Products team.

To succeed in this role, we are looking for someone with the following qualifications and requirements: -
• ME/MTech/BE/BTech in Thermal/Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or similar with more than 6 years of experience
• Experience in the field of Thermal Management system engineering
• In depth knowledge of the product development life cycle and change management activities for maintenance are required for this role
• Developing robust time plans and roadmaps for the system according to project milestones and validating the design through virtual and physical verifications
• Solid Hands-on experience in Developing and testing cooling, heating systems and solutions.
• Collaborate with mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, software, simulation and data engineers to integrate cooling & heating systems.
• Participate in and plan the testing & validation of cooling/heating systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cooling/ heating system performance and efficiency.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to cooling /heating systems and thermal management.
• Structured way of working and ability to deliver on complex tasks with excellence.
• Experience in Future Technologies (e-MOB, H2 ICE, Fuel Cell), 1D Simulations is a Merit.
• Knowledge in Volvo GTT development process and tools is a plus
• Working Knowledge of Global standards for different markets is a plus

Role And Responsibilities
In this role as a Senior System Engineer – Heating & Cooling System, you will fulfill the following responsibilities:
• As a system engineer, you would define the vehicle driveline cooling & heating system architecture with close interaction with our cab climate system engineers and mainly with ICE powertrain engineering colleagues to understand the requirements from components like engine, gearbox, retarder, battery modules, motors, compressors, EATS to heat-up and cool-down to enable them to function efficiently and in safe temperature & pressure limits
• As a system engineer, you will support and set the performance targets at individual component level to various components developed by component owners
• You will interact with simulation analysts to analyze the cooling & heating system performance virtually and plan & connect with full vehicle testing team for heating & cooling performance verification
• As a system engineer, you will verify the heating & cooling system test outcome and recommend if any necessary actions to make the system run according to set requirements in EPIC pre-requisites
• You will secure the vehilce legal and certification requirements from heating & cooling system
• You will lead and own the System FMEA for heating & cooling system and guide the DFMEAs by component owners and engineers
• Responsible to secure the heating and cooling system and End User Function requirements like cab heating function
• Responsibility of QDCF (Quality, Delivery, Cost & Feature) of your system
• Support component engineers with a target for component performance and durability as an input to their technical requirements for supplier selection and agreements
• Define level 4 (system) time plan including the most important cross functional milestones using APQP as the supporting process
• Accountable to manage Q-Tools like, D-FMEA, S-FMEA, Risk register, DFA(Manufacturing) & DFAM (After Market)
• Take full engineering responsibility, independently deliver the tasks in area as well as guide our junior team members within our Thermal Management groups.
• Opportunities to take extended responsibilities and support the other system engineers to set/define the system architecture for e-Mob, H2 ICE, fuel cell trucks evolution
• Initiate and lead Advanced Engineering work in area of responsibility
• Your role is cross-functional, which means you will work in projects within the whole Volvo GTT organization and closely collaborate with global cross functional teams
