What you will do
Volvo Group Trucks Technology – Electromobility is the global, strategic center for Electromobility development within the Volvo Group. By 2040 the entire sales of Volvo Group vehicle shall be fossil free and already by 2030 the annual sale of Electric Trucks will be 100 000 vehicles. Electromobility is key area for the Volvo Group to be in the forefront of environmentally friendly transport solutions for a more sustainable tomorrow.
Within HV Electrical Distribution and Charging Systems we provide world class solutions for transferring the energy from the charging station and distributing inside the vehicle to the HV batteries and motors and as well to supply power to the 24V system. By doing so, we deliver end customer value for all Volvo business units such as trucks, buses, construction equipment and marine applications!
Who are you?
You will work as Specialist Verification Engineer in a team responsible for Verification and validation of High voltage power components used in Electromobility vehicles like Truck and busses. Your responsibility includes the understanding various HW test requirements of individual power components and from System level. Interact with the Component Owners and perform the testing according to the test requirements. Deal with troubleshooting and provide feedback for improvements. Role can also include recommendation of test cases to evaluate new components.
What’s in it for you?
• Work in Power Electronics lab with High voltage (400V to 800V) power components and perform component and system testing by following high voltage safety guidelines.
• Testing different components like Onboard chargers, Off-board charger, DC-DC converters, Traction voltage systems, Inverters, EVSE and HPCU(Hybrid Powertrain Control Unit) etc.
• Setup test benches/rigs for Power components with alignment with vehicle project needs and requirements.
• Create test plans that evaluate the functional, electrical, environmental requirements according to customer needs.
• Execute and generate results for test cases defined in Power electronic component test plans.
• Analyse and report the test results and suggest solutions to design improvements.
• Identify and Support with equipment/tools procurement and its maintenance. Also support budgeting for the power electronics lab.
Required competencies
• 8 to 11 years of Strong hands-on experience in Power Electronics testing (verification and validation).
• Expert in system level and component level verification and validation
• Knowledge on testing aspects of Power electronics is mandatory. Electric vehicle testing is added advantage.
• Hands on experience in dSPACE HIL rigs and matlab Simulink modelling is added advantage
• Knowledge on testing tools like Oscilloscopes, HV measurements, Current meters, Clamp meters
• Knowledge on testing tools like CAN analyser, CANOE, Vehicle Spy is added advantage
• Knowhow on data acquisition, instrumentation, data analysis. dSpace automation is added advantage.
• Knowledge about Automotive EMI/EMC standards and electrical and environmental standards is not mandatory but added advantage.
• Vehicle functional understanding with end user functional test capabilities is an added advantage.
