We are looking for a Supplier Quality Lead for our Operations team that is highly motivated to apply their expertise and knowledge in finding innovative and cost effective means to improve the quality of our parts and components.
This position will require you to think with a systemic view that focuses on the customer and business needs. You will work collaboratively with the different stakeholders in operations, purchasing, technology and sales to ensure Bangalore product always meets customer satisfactions. In your work you will embrace all three principles of the Volvo CE philosophy: Flow, Continuous Improvement, and Perform & Develop.
Responsibility
- Ensure quality of procured parts and in-house painted components.
- Ensure sustenance of Quality Management Systems within supplier quality area.
- Verify and ensure complete APQP documentation in SAP system for new parts and approve initial pieces based on PPAP requirements.
- Develop CTQ Inspection sheets and inspection plans for regular production, NPD and ECNs.
- Assess supplier capabilities and potential gaps along with SD team, implementing countermeasures for smooth part flow.
- Collaborate with Supplier Development and Technology teams to ensure "Right First Time" part quality.
- Make prompt decisions, implement containment actions, and communicate issues to suppliers for CAPA.
- Proficiently raise NC reports and validate supplier-submitted 8D documents through SAP system.
- Conduct audits of corrective actions at supplier premises and verify effectiveness.
- Drive Material Review Board processes for immediate corrective measures and timely part disposition to reduce production disturbances and rejection cost.
- Monitor Cost of Quality and Lead and drive cross-functional continuous improvement.
- Establish and evaluate performance indicators for Supplier Quality, demanding and implementing improvements.
- Identify and plan annual dimensional and weld audits for supplier-supplied fabricated components.
- Lead and manage teams, including industrial workers, consultants & department budgets.
- Conduct resource planning, coaching, mentoring, and motivation to instill problem-solving and Built-in Quality culture.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Digitization, Q4T and data management is advantageous.
- Ensure timely calibration of equipment, gauges and tools for departmental functioning.
- Plan and procure inspection test and measuring equipment according to quality needs of supplier quality area.
Skills Needed:
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand standards.
- Proficiency in using various inspection, test, and measuring equipment.
- Knowledge of SAP QM Module.
- Proficient in problem-solving, analysis and interpretation.
- Extensive knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, such as APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.
- Strong knowledge of ISO9001 and TS16949.
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes such as metal cutting, fabrication, assembly and painting.
- Systematic and methodical approach to problem solving, preferably Six Sigma Black Belt.
- Effective cross-functional team player, leader and deliverer of results in a CFT environment.
- Strong project management skills to lead and execute supplier quality improvement projects.
- Coaching and mentoring skills to foster a Built-in-Quality culture.
- Familiarity with supplier qualification and evaluation processes.
- Should possess good communication, networking and negotiation skills.
- Should be a good team player.
Needed relevant experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production & Industrial Engineering or Mechatronics.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in Supplier Quality function of Construction Equipment, Machine Tool Manufacturing, Heavy Engineering, Agricultural or Automobile Industries.
- Experience in managing hydraulic components.
