System Design Engineer

Role Summary:

As a System Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and development of complex automotive systems. You will define system architecture, ensure requirements traceability, interface with stakeholders, and support integration, testing, and validation to deliver high-performance, compliant vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and document system architecture and interfaces for embedded automotive systems.

  • Capture and manage system requirements using model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools.

  • Ensure alignment between system, hardware, software, and vehicle-level requirements.

  • Create functional and technical specifications for subsystems (e.g., powertrain, ADAS, electrical systems).

  • Work closely with domain experts, software developers, and validation engineers.

  • Conduct design reviews, failure mode analysis (FMEA), and support DFMEA activities.

  • Support system integration, verification, and validation at component, system, and vehicle levels.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE, ISO 21434).

  • Collaborate with global teams and support cross-functional development activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of system engineering concepts, V-model, and product lifecycle management.

  • Hands-on experience with requirement management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Polarion).

  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, CAN, LIN, FlexRay, or Ethernet communication protocols.

  • Familiarity with tools like SysML, MATLAB/Simulink, or Enterprise Architect.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to functional safety (ISO 26262), cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), and ASPICE.

  • Experience with automotive domains like ADAS, electromobility, infotainment, or powertrain.

  • Background in model-based development and simulation tools (e.g., Simulink, Stateflow).

  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern development processes.
