Workshop Controller – Wilstead, Bedford

Working Monday to Friday/0800hrs to 1630hrs = 40hrs per week with some flexibility required
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Controller to join our Volvo Truck & Bus workshop team.
About the Role
As a Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of workshop operations, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. You will coordinate with technicians, monitor workflow, and deliver exceptional customer service while maximizing workshop productivity
What will you bring?
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, or Workshop Supervisor within the commercial vehicle industry.
- Strong knowledge of Volvo Truck & Bus products is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Computer literacy and experience with workshop management systems.
- Full driving licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential).
What the role involves
- Plan and control daily workshop activities.
- Allocate work effectively to technicians based on skill and workload.
- Support the CSR/Workshop Supervisor as required to ensure job specification
- Monitor repair progress and ensure jobs are completed on time.
- Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
- Liaise with customers, service advisors, and parts departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Support technicians with technical guidance and problem-solving.
- Monitor workshop performance, productivity, and efficiency.
- Ensure all repairs comply with Volvo Truck & Bus standards and manufacturer guidelines.
