Description thesis work

For this thesis work you will be joining the department of VPD (virtual product development) at site Braås, part of Volvo CE and the home of the articulated hauler. VPD works with virtual product development in the areas of vehicle simulation, structural and vibration analysis, and data analytics. We have a great interest in mathematics, physics, and problem-solving.

Your assignment for this thesis work will be automating machine usage analysis from log data and geospatial data.
Modern construction equipment generates vast amounts of operational data, including detailed log files and geospatial information. Analyzing this data provides information on how machines are used in real-world environments, which can support product development and inform maintenance strategies. Recently developed analysis methods have made it possible to extract machine usage patterns. However, manual analysis of the large and complex datasets is both time-consuming and prone to error. Hence, the aim is to automize and further improve these methods for analyzing log data and geospatial information.
