If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

Description Thesis Work

For this assignment you will join the department of VPD (Virtual product development) at site Braås, part of Volvo CE and home of the articulated hauler. VPD works with virtual product development in the areas of vehicle simulation, structural and vibration analysis, and data analytics. We have a great interest in mathematics, physics, and problem-solving.

The assignment for this thesis work is advancing the predictive capabilities for articulated hauler velocity profiles in real-time operational scenarios. Specifically, the objective is to develop a recommendation system that accurately forecasts the velocity profile of articulated haulers as a function of both road curvature and road roughness encountered during transit.
Currently, two distinct cycle models are implemented in MATLAB: one dedicated to analyzing the effects of road curvature, and another focused on road roughness. The assignment requires the integration of these models into a unified framework, enabling simultaneous consideration of both parameters. Furthermore, the system should be optimized to enhance velocity prediction accuracy by leveraging macro-level parameters, such as vehicle load, comfort conditions, and operational constraints.

Suitable Background: Mechanical engineering, vehicle dynamics or Applied physics, experience in python or Matlab.
Thesis Level: Bachelor or Master
