What you will do

The role will be located at our Volvo Group Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region. The Byhalia CDC is a 1.2 million square foot facility located approximately 25 miles southeast of Memphis, TN. We operate in two shifts, employing approximately 600 union employees.Many growth opportunities wait for leaders who are willing to join our team. Responsibilities / Main Tasks
•    Lead, develop, plan, and execute Logistics Engineering activities using world-class internal material-handling practices.
•    Design and implement complete internal logistics flows — from receiving dock to assembly line — ensuring safety, productivity, and efficiency.
•    Define manpower, equipment, and space requirements aligned with cost-reduction, productivity, and sustainability targets.
•    Design and maintain logistics area layouts according to the plant master plan and Lean principles.
•    Participate in and/or lead Kaizen and Value Stream Mapping events to improve operations, reduce waste, and maximize productivity.
•    Support and drive the implementation of the Volvo Production System (VPS) Logistics Pillar using the Volvo Operations Concept.
•    Serve as an Expert / Key User in VPS (Continuous Improvement) tools and methodologies.
•    Bring innovation and automation to logistics processes through the application of digital tools, analytics, and data-driven decision making.
•    Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, SQL queries, and Python-based automations to visualize and optimize material flows, space utilization, and logistics KPIs.
•    Collaborate closely with Materials Business Team Leaders, Supervisors, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth communication between engineering, operations, and IT.

Who are you?



•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Logistics, Mechanical, Systems, or equivalent).
•    Experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Logistics environments is a plus (typically 2–5 years preferred).
•    Proficiency in English — all documentation and reporting are in English.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical data clearly at all levels.
•    Advanced computer and analytics skills, including:
o    Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project)
o    Power BI (data modeling, DAX, visualization, and automation)
o    SQL (data extraction, transformation, and integration)
o    Python (data analysis, automation, simulation, or optimization)
•    Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and VPS tools.
•    Project management and problem-solving skills; ability to deliver on tight timelines.
•    Self-motivated, analytical, and able to independently lead complex assignments.
•    Experience working in cross-functional teams (Engineering, IT, Operations, Procurement, etc.).
