SML North America (NA) is a part of SML and has about 1,000 employees across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. We operate the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region.

Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is passionate about Lean and Continuous Improvement. The VPS Coach will play a key role in deploying the Volvo Performance System (VPS) within the Byhalia Central Distribution Center (CDC), developing people, and driving process excellence across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

•    Implement VPS in alignment with the DC North America roadmap.
•    Lead the development, implementation, and sustainability of VPS through coaching, assessments, training, knowledge-sharing events, and adoption of best practices.
•    Train and develop team members at all levels in Lean principles and VPS methodologies to build long-term capability.
•    Promote “Lean Thinking” education across all warehouse employees.
•    Support and monitor business KPIs to measure VPS implementation progress.
•    Challenge management and drive best practices to accelerate efficiency and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
•    Coach employees at all levels in problem-solving and improvement activities.
•    Develop and execute strategies for VPS initiatives, working independently and collaboratively.
•    Support functional KPIs/PIs by facilitating problem-solving activities and coaching on continuous improvement.
•    Lead Value Stream Mapping sessions to define and achieve future-state processes.
•    Provide ongoing training on VPS tools and techniques.
•    Conduct periodic audits to assess VPS adherence and cultural development.

Minimum Education & Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
•    Proven experience in change management with Lean, Six Sigma, or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies.
•    Background in distribution and/or supply chain operations, preferably within a unionized environment.
•    Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, PBI).

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $83,500 - $103,100 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
