The Purpose of the Role

 

The main purpose of the job is to effectively control, update and report on all debtor accounts, including warranties and other income within Volvo Trucks South Africa. Timely updating, reporting and feedback of the credit function, ensuring that it complies with all set parameters and standards that fully support the business objectives. Your main task is to work in a flexible and proactive way with credit management to secure customer payments. 
You will have both an operative role as well as being a part of developing our strategy to develop business. 
You will have the responsibility to do daily and monthly credit management tasks this could also include credit checks, customer registration, reporting AR-days and overdue and prepare and present material to the Volvo Trucks Credit Committee. 

 

Reporting: This position will report to the Credit Manager.


Job Objectives: 

  • To ensure that outstanding debts are collected and payments are allocated within set payment terms. 
  • To communicate with internal stakeholders, incl. dealerships, sales staff to ensure that all are kept up to date with outstanding debts. 
  • To communicate with external customers to advise and/or inquire and obtain commitment regarding debts/overdue’ s. 
  • To identify any risk factors and ensure that the relevant stakeholders are made aware thereof, and corrective actions are taken to mitigate against risks to the business. 
  • To handle all inquiries and ensure full inquiry resolution within set time parameters. 
  • To ensure that reconciliations of debtors are completed on a continuous basis and in full compliance with set standards of quality. 
  • To compile age analyses at regular intervals and ensure continuous updates. 
  • To process credit applications based on relevant credit reports and other supporting information. 
  • To ensure that all work is done according to IFRS standards and the Credit Management Directive of Volvo. 
  • To provide reconciliations and information required as part of the Audit process.
  • To ensure that sundry credit notes and invoices are processed timeously.
  • To ensure that master accounts are updated with debtors’ information. 
  • Weekly and monthly reporting to stakeholders. Follow-up and analysis of overdue receivables, including early warnings and High-risk customers.
  • Review of the provisions raised for accounts under your control.
  • Ad hoc issues relating to the above.

Qualification & Job Experience:

  • National Diploma in Accounting (essential). 
  • B Comm Accounting (desirable). 
  • Previous experience in the Finance / Business Control area and specifically in the Credit Management area.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office & especially Excel.
  • Good knowledge of SAP R/3.

 

Job Related Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of Credit Management and Accounting experience or relevant practical experience.
  • Proven experience in a finance role in a similar sized organization would be preferable.
  • SAP experience ( ≥4 Years).

  • IT skills – an interest for IT, strong systems skills and experience as well as knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office especially Excel, etc. Smart view knowledge is a plus.
  • Analytical thinking – ability to understand, structure and think through implementable solutions to business-related problems. Interpret data, draw conclusions and provide guidance by balancing strong commercial acumen with a risk and control mind-set. Early warning and critical thinking is essential.
