Within Group Trucks Purchasing APAC team, we, Services Digital & Investments (SD&I) Korea team are recruiting a VIE Commodity Buyer position, located in Changwon (South Korea).

We are responsible for Indirect purchasing scope to contribute to the truck division, business area, and group function daily operation in Volvo Group Korea. We are 10 people located in Changwon and Seoul.

You will be based in Changwon, for 12 months, and you will work mainly with Volvo Construction Equipment plant in Changwon which is the biggest excavator production site in Volvo group. You will support commodity buyers for IT & Services commodity mainly.

What you will do

As our Commodity Buyer in SD&I Korean team you will collaborate with local, regional and global counterparts and internal stakeholders in order to get the best possible results for Volvo in terms of Cost, Quality, Delivery, Features, Technology while ensuring Volvo’s long-term Sustainability and managing Risks (QDCFTSR).

You will manage and develop our supplier base using categorization, segmentation, continuous performance evaluation. You will also map and identify new suppliers in order to establish and maintain the appropriate levels of relationship with key suppliers.

You will also:

• Perform day-to-day activities (orders/price litigations/etc..) supporting the buyers in the team
• Execute sourcing activities to define project timelines and approved sourcing strategies.
• Issue RFQ’s, negotiate an optimal cost level for areas of responsibility and carry out contract negotiations and management.
• Contribute to KPI target fulfillment.
• Interact as key contact with the stakeholders. Prepare and report Key Performance Indicators development to them.
• Identify and contribute synergies and share best practices within the Volvo Group including but not limited by participation in internal network meetings and external benchmarking.
• Contribute to the development of the segment strategy and purchasing process to support Volvo’s strategic objectives mainly in IT segments.
• Get specific assignment in projects and coordinate in cross functional team to secure results.
• Bring together innovations on his/her segments.

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Science, Engineering or Business Administration
• A first experience in purchasing, ideally in an industrial or automotive sector
• Communication skills and strong interest to develop good relationships with stakeholders and team

• Passion, self-learning, positive attitude and owner’s mentality 
• Fluent in English (in speech and writing). Knowledge of Korean would be a plus!
