Purpose/Description 

Under the direction of the Volvo Operations Concept:  

Performs work according to SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) 

Performs Autonomous maintenance 

Performs Autonomous safety 

Performs quick kaizens 

Takes other assignments, according to Star point concept 

This position is responsible for: 

Performing any or all of the tasks associated with shipping and receiving of components, parts, and materials, as well as responsible for placing orders to PDC or LC warehouse for materials need for production and for other duties    

 

Core Responsibilities: 

Production material coordination 

Add needed parts on work order per the teardown report, and print parts pick list 

Check estimates of material cost and labor to complete each job 

Place emergency raw material orders to PDC for VCE and Truck product 

Maintain and update all manufacture prices and superseded files 

Request parts from remote warehouse for work orders for technicians 

Issue parts in the system to the work orders 

Expedites materials and parts and notifies Production Support of delays. 

Accurately processes all parts orders. 

 

Warehouse duties 

Responsible for the shipping and receiving of components, parts and materials. 

Plans and ensures efficient use of warehouse space. 

Keeps the warehouse and work area clean and neat at all times. 

Executes material counts as requested and through cycle counting process 

Performs inventory transactions into the inventory management system. 

Establishes and maintains accurate storage location and records. 

Cycle counting (coordination) 

Update and verify cycle count information to track inventory accuracy rates and facilitate KPI reporting. 

Distribute this information in a format that can be posted in the work areas for review. 

Investigate quantity difference in inventory and improve record accuracy. 

Check Kaizens generated by Logistics department for accuracy and load them into the Kaizen database (monthly or as needed). 

Write new work instructions / SOPs (or update existing ones) as needed for Logistics.  

Quality issues follow up with PDC as contact person for Logistics 

Handling returns and process improvement 

Back up for material planner. 

Job requires being reliable, responsible and dependable 

Cooperation in the workplace – requires working with others on the job and displaying a positive and cooperative attitude 

Ability to work overtime on an as needed basis 

Continuous improvement of all processes 

VPS / Lean oriented mindset 

Essential Educational and/or Training Qualifications and Certificates 

High school diploma or GED required 

Vocational certificate or equivalent experience 

Working knowledge of MRP/ERP 

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, PPT), and company proprietary information systems (IFS). 

 

Preferred Experience and Knowledge 

Ability to operate general shop equipment, including cranes and forklifts. 

Basic computer skills. Proficiency in proprietary ERP systems (Visual, SAP, IFS or equivalent) a plus 

Positive attitude, good communication skills, and willing to learn and share knowledge with others 

Punctual, self-motivated, independent, and strong team player 

Ability to multi-task and work under pressure 

Ability to work multiple shifts and overtime as needed
