The Finance Graduate Program

If you are up for the challenge of developing our future Finance function and want to be a part of the innovative world of Volvo Group, this is the graduate program for you!

 

During 12 intense months, you will get an end-to-end perspective of our Finance functions and how we co-drive the business, both from a local as well as from a Volvo Group perspective. From day one, you will have a permanent role in one of our organizations, where you will play an active role in daily deliveries. In parallel, you will participate in a number of common training weeks with the other Finance graduates throughout the year, do various job rotations to increase your insights of the Volvo Group and last but not least you will grow as a person. Your professional and personal growth will be supported through individual and team development sessions, mentoring, coaching and feedback.

 

You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business, which will help you get a holistic view and build your future career within the Volvo Group. Besides your manager, who will guide and support you in your daily job, you will have a supportive network of peer graduates, colleagues across the globe and senior leaders to help you excel. The VPNA finance team has responsibility for a wide range of financial processes as well as deep business responsibility. We work closely across the organization and especially with our commercial sales teams who are located across North America. How you will make an impact As a Business Controller in VPNA and part of the Volvo Group Finance Graduate Program, you will play an active role in connecting financial insights to real business decisions. You will help translate data into meaningful perspectives, strengthening business control while supporting a fast-moving and growing organization. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will contribute to both day-to-day financial performance and the continuous improvement of how we operate. Your impact will be focused across three key areas:

 


Driving financial insight and decision support

  • Preparing management and financial reports, analyzing trends and variances across actuals, forecasts, and budgets
  • Supporting ad hoc financial and operational analyses to identify risks and opportunities and guide business decisions
  • Building an understanding of key financial drivers and how they connect to operational performance

 

Ensuring accuracy, control, and quality

  • Supporting monthly closing, estimates, and reporting processes with a focus on quality and reliability
  • Analyzing financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and controls
  • Contributing to clear, precise communication of financial information to stakeholders

 

Improving processes and enabling smarter ways of working

  • Identifying opportunities to simplify, automate, and standardize finance processes
  • Exploring and testing digital tools (e.g., Excel-based models, Power BI, Tableau, Power Query) to enhance business control routines
  • Reducing manual work and improving the quality and accessibility of financial data
  • Collaborating with local and global finance teams on process improvement initiatives

More specifically, we require:

  • Maximum 2 years of full-time work experience prior to, or after graduation (internships are considered work experience)
  • BS degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Administration or a relevant/ related curriculum. MBA or Masters degree is preferred
  • Some practical exposure to financial reporting or accounting through internships, student projects, or entry-level roles
  • Working experience in Excel (e.g. pivot tables, advanced formulas)
  • Previous experience with data analytics or business control is a plus
  • Robust data-driven analytical skills and a business mindset
  • Data visualization tools highly desirable
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English is critical as it is the global language for Volvo Group. Additional languages appreciated (English plus Spanish, Swedish, etc.)

This job is a fully on-site position based on Volvo Group work principles.


Some domestic and international travel (about 30% in first year)


You will have one 3 month assignment in another country or location in your first year as part of the standard FGP program activities.

For this position, the base pay is set at $72,600 - $89,700 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
