What you will do

Within the Americas, Volvo Penta is responsible for all marketing, sales, and customer support activities across North America, Central America, and Caribbean Islands. This role plays a key part in strengthening our presence by supporting our Power Center network, expanding our rapidly growing Marine Commercial segment, and sustaining the momentum of our well-established Marine Leisure markets. We provide a comprehensive range of marine engines and propulsion solutions to Power Centers, OEMs, governmental agencies, and boatbuilders throughout the region.

 

Volvo Penta is now seeking a Regional Sales Manager to join our Marine Diesel Sales Team. This position is field based and based on the West Coast of the United States near a major airport due to the concentration of key national accounts, commercial operators, and strategic growth opportunities in the Pacific Northwest and Canada.

 

What is the Job?
As Regional Sales Manager, you will be a driving force behind Volvo Penta’s marine engine sales growth across the West Coast and Canada. You will take ownership of building and executing strategic marketing and sales plans for National Accounts, OEMs, and Power Centers while accelerating market share, strengthening partnerships, and shaping the future of our marine business.

 

Some of your core responsibilities will include:

  • Lead with impact. Engage local and national accounts through consultative, relationship-focused sales efforts, connecting with key influencers and decision-makers across every level of their organizations.
  • Shape the strategy. Bring powerful customer insights back into the business by contributing to pricing input, competitive intelligence, product feedback, and emerging market trends.
  • Fuel growth. Deliver actionable recommendations for marketing initiatives, promotional materials, sales programs, and training that elevate Volvo Penta’s presence and strengthen partner capabilities.
  • Own the numbers. Drive and achieve North American sales targets—monthly, quarterly, and annually—while continually identifying new opportunities for expansion and conversion.
  • Build strong business plans. Partner with Power Centers to develop forward-looking growth plans that align with market opportunities and Volvo Penta’s strategic direction.
  • Ensure excellence. Monitor and support Power Center performance to uphold all commitments outlined in the Power Center Agreement and maintain Volvo Penta’s high standards of representation.
  • Grow and Develop. Work on other projects and ad hoc responsibilities set by your manager to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives

Who are you?

Education & Experience:

This position requires the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field
  • 7-10 years’ experience in selling/sales, preferably OEM sales
  • Experience as an OEM National Account Manager desirable
  • Experience with diesel marine engines and/or company/boat builders
  • Experience within the marine business
  • Intermediate level daily experience using Microsoft products (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Proven speaking and presentation skills and experience presenting to people from different backgrounds and roles
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interface well with colleagues, leaders, customers, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders at different levels of various organizations locally, nationally, and globally
  • Can read, write, understand and speak English. Bilingual (English plus Spanish, Swedish, French, etc.) a plus

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Exceptional business acumen that encompasses overall knowledge of sales, finance, marketing, advertising and promotions.
  • Familiarity with engineering, manufacturing, parts, service support, and inventory control.
  • Well-versed knowledge in the diesel marine industry

Other Considerations:
To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status. 

Frequent domestic and international travel is required


Physical Requirements:

  • Standing; walking; lifting and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching
  • Can sustain occasional long and/or irregular hours and weekend work
  • Frequent travel (50%+) including both domestic and international travel
  •  Ability to board and interact safely on marine vessels on land or at sea while adhering to all applicable rules and regulations surrounding the work
  •  Occasional exposure to heat, cold, wind, rain and other weather elements when working in certain customer environments

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $128,300 - $158,400  annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
