Analytics Engineer - Product Development – Volvo Buses

We are looking for someone to embark on a journey of change with us! This opportunity is in the Engineering department of Volvo Buses. In this position, you will be involved in discussions about new technologies, market analysis, and trends, enhancing your technical knowledge and personal skills. Additionally, you will interact with different people and functions within the Volvo Group, promoting improvements and contributing to the creation of our future buses, with project development at a global level.
Who we are
We are a team that works on the development of bus chassis parts and products, consisting of three distinct areas: an electrical engineering area, a mechanical engineering area, an electromobility area and a project management area. This position will interface with all the areas described above, providing essential data for product enhancement. You will have the opportunity to help us and learn from the team of engineers while supporting various activities.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of an Analytics Engineer include designing data models, collecting information, writing code, maintaining data documentation, communicating results, and collaborating with data team members.
Analytics Engineers move and transform data from the source so that it can be easily analyzed, visualized, and worked on by the engineering team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Translate business problems and develop end-to-end analytics use cases, from experimentation to operationalized output.
- Data discovery using state-of-the-art methods and tools.
- Drive innovation in analytics.
- Develop complex models and algorithms that drive innovation and performance throughout the organization. This may include improving on-time performance, budget, fuel consumption, uptime, etc.
- Conduct advanced analytics to provide actionable insights, identify trends, and measure performance.
- Collaborate with other Volvo group data engineers and data architects to implement and deploy scalable solutions.
- Provide thought leadership by researching best practices and conducting experiments.
Who are you?
Required Qualifications:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in electrical/software engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent.
- Good knowledge in building data pipelines and ETL processes.
- how technical solutions link with business objectives and outcomes.
We also expect that you:
- Writing SQL queries and navigating relational databases.
- Optimizing data structures.
- Building semantic models in Power BI.
- Good knowledge in Python, SQL, and Databricks.
- Driving PoCs (Proofs of concepts) together with business stakeholders to understand their needs.
- Understanding
- Enjoy working in a diverse, complex, and fast-changing landscape of data sources.
- Communicate fluently in English with global teams.
- Are an open-minded, creative and proactive problem solver with innovative thinking and a strong team player.
- Share knowledge with our whole product development team.
- Take responsibility.
