Experienced Chassis Frame Engineer

We are looking for a Chassis Frame Engineer for Volvo Bus

The group mission within Chassis Frame Team is to develp our Chassis and main methalic structures in a global level according to Volvo Standards, securing quality, safety and weight optimization for our products.

To succeed in the role as chassis frame engineer you shall have the interest in mechanical structures, welding, machine elements, surface treatment, mechanical materials and Finite Elements Analysis. Experience in the area is valuable, but interest and a front-leaning personality strikes high for this position.

 

 

Main area of responsibility

  • Sheet Metal and Mechanical Structures development with welding, casting and bending for Volvo Buses Chassis following geometric dimensioning and tolerancing standards
  • Follow Volvo Standards during the design process using mainly CATIA as the design tool.
  • Work on chassis frame development for all Volvo Buses Producs (BEV and DIESEL)
  • Secure the quality on the documentation of the developed parts.
  • Securing quality and readiness of the developed parts during the different project release phases
  • Working with maintenance and quality items.

Qualifications:

 

  • Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Sheet Metal and Mechanical Structures development, preferrable from automotive.
  • Proficient in CATIA
  • Knowledge on Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in Portuguese and English, both spoken and written.
  • Being able to bring improvement ideas to the area, both in process and deliveries
  • Strong sense of responsability and team work
  • A good complete product overview, connecting cross functional areas to the final product delivery
  • Self-driven proactive engagement with learning opportunities and ongoing Experienced development.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a local and global cross-functional network.
  • Fluent in English.

 

 

Nice to have

  • Spanish Communication
  • 2 to 5 years of experience with Sheet Metal and Mechanical Structures for vehicle chassis
  • Experience with FEA Analysis
  • Experience with Plastic Development
  • Experience with Addictive Manufacturing
  • Experience from Volvo software documentation tools, such as Protom & Kola
