Your Future Team
You will be a member of the VFS Latin America Executive Management Team, reporting directly to the Regional SVP and collaborating closely with business leaders across VFS globally. In this role, you will lead the Legal & Compliance team in Brazil while overseeing the function across Latin America. You will work in close partnership with the global VFS Legal & Compliance organization and Volvo Group Legal teams to ensure strategic alignment, effective governance, and regulatory compliance across the region.
Together, you will deliver trust legal counsel, drive a strong compliance culture, protect the company’s reputation, and support business growth through sound governance, ethical decision-making, and pragmatic risk management.
This position is in Curitiba, Brazil.
What you will do
As Head of Legal & Compliance for VFS Latin America, you will lead the regional Legal & Compliance function across Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Mexico.
You will:
- Oversight and develop the regional Legal & Compliance team, fostering a high-performance culture through coaching, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement while maintaining accountability for hiring, budget, and functional performance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to regional leadership, providing practical legal and compliance guidance that supports strategic decision-making and sustainable business growth.
- Provide legal support across VFS products and operations, including financing, leasing, and insurance-related products, overseeing the drafting, negotiation, and structuring of commercial agreements, financing documentation, guarantees, and other key contracts.
- Advice on corporate governance, regulatory matters, organizational initiatives, and strategic business projects across the region.
- Responsible for implementation of the regional compliance program, including anti-corruption, competition law, conflicts of interest, third-party due diligence, Code of Conduct, Speak-Up investigations, sanctions compliance, and other compliance initiatives, in alignment with Volvo Group requirements and in coordination with global VFS team.
- Promote a culture of ethics, integrity, accountability, and responsible business practices throughout the organization.
- Advise on data privacy, consumer protection, and financial services regulations, ensuring alignment with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments across Latin America, proactively identifying emerging risks and translating regulatory changes into practical business guidance.
- Manage litigation, disputes, and external counsel relationships, ensuring high-quality legal support, cost efficiency, and effective risk mitigation.
- Partner closely with Sales, Credit, Operations, Finance, People & Culture, Global VFS Legal & Compliance, and Volvo Group stakeholders to support business objectives while maintaining strong governance standards.
- Report on legal and compliance risks, trends, investigations, and improvement initiatives to regional and global leadership teams.

Requirements:
- Law degree with valid license to practice law in Brazil and active Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) registration in good standing.
- Significant experience in legal and/or compliance functions within financial services, banking, leasing, captive finance, or similarly regulated industries
- Strong knowledge of commercial law, corporate law, financial services regulation, consumer protection, anti-money laundering (AML/KYC), sanctions, anti-corruption, and data privacy legislation.
- Proven leadership experience, including team development, performance management, hiring, succession planning, and budget accountability.
- Experience operating within multinational and matrix organizations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong business acumen and the ability to balance legal, compliance, and commercial considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage digital tools, automation, data analytics, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to improve legal operations, strengthen compliance programs, and support business decision-making.
- High level of integrity, sound judgment, and risk awareness.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decisions and communicate effectively with both legal and non-legal audiences
- Recognized role models for ethical leadership, resilience, collaboration and accountability.
- Fluent in English and Portuguese; Spanish is desirable
- Willingness to travel across Latin America and globally as required.
