You are a senior Embedded Software Engineer with a genuine interest in steering systems, vehicle dynamics and the future of sustainable transportation. You combine strong technical competence with a collaborative mindset, taking ownership of complex assignments and delivering robust software solutions that create value for our customers.
You are comfortable working across the complete software development lifecycle and collaborating closely with internal teams and suppliers in a global environment. You communicate clearly, build trusted partnerships and confidently influence technical decisions. As a Senior Engineer, you also enjoy sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and contributing to a culture of inclusion, continuous learning and engineering excellence.
What you will do
You will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will:
- Lead embedded software application activities for steering systems, from requirements to verification and release.
- Develop, integrate and maintain embedded software functions using C and C++.
- Translate system and functional requirements into robust software solutions.
- Coordinate software development activities with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Review supplier deliveries and ensure compliance with technical, quality and project requirements.
- Plan and execute software verification using MIL, SIL, HIL and vehicle testing environments.
- Troubleshoot software and system issues, supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Share knowledge, support colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement within the global engineering network.
Your future team
You will join the Vehicle Motion Management and Vehicle Dynamics team within Function and Software Defined Vehicles. We develop steering and vehicle dynamics solutions for Volvo Group products, working in close collaboration with global engineering teams and suppliers. You will be part of an inclusive environment where technical excellence, knowledge sharing, teamwork and continuous learning are central to how we deliver safe and high-quality solutions.
Relevant Experience
- Computer, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
- Solid experience in embedded software development for real-time systems using C or C++.
- Experience with software requirements, integration, verification and troubleshooting.
- Experience working with suppliers or external development partners.
- Knowledge of AUTOSAR, MATLAB/Simulink and model-based development.
- Knowledge of automotive communication protocols and Vector tools such as CANoe or CANalyzer.
- Strong communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate within cross-functional and global teams.
Nice to have:
- Experience with steering systems, vehicle dynamics or other safety-related automotive systems.
- Experience with functional safety and ISO 26262.
- Knowledge of Git, Jenkins, Python or other continuous integration and automation tools.
