Senior Geometrical Assurance Engineer

Location:

Curitiba, BR, 81260-900

Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

What you will do

At Cab Over Truck Engineering you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large.

As a Senior Geometrical Assurance Engineer (GAE) within our VGA Team / Vehicle Geometric Architecture, you will play a key role in shaping robust vehicle architectures and contributing to the transformation of the transport industry and society at large, working together with highly skilled colleagues, in a global environment and working in new technology vehicles.

  • As a Senior Geometrical Assurance Engineer (GAE) within our VGA Team / Vehicle Geometric Architecture, you will play a key role in shaping robust vehicle architectures and contributing to the transformation of the transport industry and society at large.
  • You will be responsible for the geometrical integration of systems and components, with a strong focus on Geometry Assurance, ensuring robust, repeatable, and manufacturable solutions throughout the full vehicle development lifecycle.
  • You will lead cross-commodity geometrical assurance activities, delivering architecture and integration solutions aligned with defined introductions, component/system roadmaps, and long-term strategic plans. This includes securing balanced solutions across geometry, weight, dimensions, and interfaces, within the QDCF framework, considering platform strategies, technology development, and project-specific requirements across multiple vehicle programs over time.
  • You will own the geometric assurance of the complete vehicle, acting as a technical reference for stack-up chains, pre-tolerancing, and variation risk management at multi-system interfaces.
  • In addition, you will lead the geometric assurance of the complete vehicle, ensuring design robustness, manufacturability, and assembly repeatability from concept phase through SOP. You will act as a technical reference in stack-up chains, pre-tolerancing, and variation risk management at multi-system interfaces, securing perceived quality, functional clearances, and assembly consistency.

Your main missions and responsibilities will be:

  • Ensure Fit, Form and Function of systems and components across the vehicle architecture;
  • Enhance design robustness and support cost avoidance by minimizing late design changes and increasing confidence through virtual builds, reducing dependency on physical builds;
  • Create, simulate, and validate tolerance and datum target strategies (using methods and tools such as RD&T) to meet Product Design and Quality Impression requirements for Fit & Finish;
  • Define and execute measurement plans throughout the serial life of the product, enabling statistical evaluations (e.g. 8 Sigma calculations);
  • Perform root cause analysis of build and assembly issues, including stack-up and chain analysis;
  • Work with Statistical Process Control (SPC), ensuring supplier process conformity and capability linked to Dimensional Control Plan (DCP) activities;
  • Define geometrically critical components, associated datum targets, and secure validation and alignment with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Suppliers;
  • Execute pre-tolerancing activities, with focus on mountability and interface robustness (including Gap & Flush where applicable);
  • Develop and maintain RD&T models (Robust Design & Tolerancing), defining chaining strategies necessary to achieve geometrical convergence;
  • Define and deploy Dimensional Control Plans (DCP), including Measuring Point (MP) drawings, pre-validation of control jigs, and 3D control points on FOT (First Out of Tool) together with SQE;
  • Lead geometrical convergence meetings involving Manufacturing, Engineering, Suppliers, SQE, and Geometrical Architecture;
  • Support project engineers across all project phases, providing robust technical solutions at varying levels of complexity;
  • Actively contribute to the development and deployment of GA methods, standards, and tools across projects and organization.

Note: This role is primarily focused on chassis systems and mountability/interfaces, not on CAB Gap & Flush development.

Who are you?

Do you dream big? We do too, and we are excited to grow together. In this role, you will bring:

  • Solid experience and proven expertise in geometrical integration of systems and components, with strong focus on Geometry Assurance, preferably within the automotive or heavy vehicle industry;
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • GD&T
    • Gap & Flush principles
    • Stack-up and chain calculations
    • Reference systems and datum targets
    • Measurement points and drawings
    • Stability and repeatability of parts
    • Isostatism principles
    • 3D CAD tools (Creo)
  • Fluency in English (mandatory);
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field is considered an advantage;
  • Ability to work independently (being responsible for delivering on time and with the expected quality), in addition to having the ability to work in a group, managing different challenges and expectations of interested parties is essential;
  • Analytical problem-solving skills are essential.
