What you will do

At Cab Over Truck Engineering you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry and society at large. You will:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer inside SAS (Steering, Axle and Suspension) team, you will be in charge of developing technical solutions for local and global projects, solve quality issues, and supporting parts localization for components and systems within your responsibility area. You will get an opportunity to work together with highly skilled colleagues, in a global environment and working in new technology vehicles that will contribute to reduce the CO2 emissions.

 

Your daily activities will include but not be limited to:

 

  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of heavy‑duty vehicle suspension systems and components;
  • Contribute to suspension development with awareness of interfaces to steering, brakes and axle systems;
  • Provide technical solutions and design work that fulfill business targets and functional requirements;
  • Develop and share technical competence with other development sites;
  • Control product cost and support budget estimation;
  • Develop validation plans and project time plans;
  • Support Design Reviews, participate in risk analysis, root cause investigations and DFMEA;
  • Play a key role in a cross-functional network;
  • Secure continuous optimization of product quality and cost;
  • Release documentation (3D models, drawings, technical regulations, technical descriptions, product structure);
  • Make use of and apply Agile methodology.

SAS is a group within the Chassis department responsible for the development of steering, non-driven axles and suspension systems for Latin America truck applications. The group is part of a global network competence center and works in close cooperation with other sites such as Sweden, India, France and the USA. Essential skills and needed experience:

  • Mechanical Engineer Degree or equivalent;
  • Experience in suspension system development with strong product development focus.
  • Broad experience as a product development engineer in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, casting, forging…) and material properties;
  • Application of quality tools (Risk Analysis, DFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc.);
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in cooperation with others;
  • Flexibility to perform a wide range of tasks and accept new challenges, responsibilities and assignments;
  • Fluent in English (written and verbal);
  • International and multi-cultural experience within a global and cross-functional organization.

 

Would be a differential:

  • Experience with heavy-duty vehicles;
  • Knowledge of truck systems, such as brakes, hubs, non-driven axles and applications;
  • 3D CAD knowledge, preferably PTC/Creo;
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology;
  • Master’s degree or post-graduation in a relevant technical area
