What you will do

The Senior Employee Health & Safety Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving engineering and organizational solutions to mitigate workplace hazards, ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant working environment.

The role applies to advanced technical knowledge and leadership to ensure alignment with corporate standards and regulatory requirements.

Additionally, the role holds a regional scope, being responsible for coordinating and aligning Health & Safety practices across multiple countries in Latin America, ensuring consistency in standards, compliance, and performance.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide functional guidance to Health & Safety professionals across multiple countries (Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico), ensuring alignment with corporate standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Influence regional HSE teams, coordinating activities across different business units and geographies without direct reporting lines.
  • Drive harmonization of safety processes, tools, and performance metrics across Latin America.
  • Act as the regional focal point for HSE, interfacing with global stakeholders and ensuring consistent deployment of corporate initiatives
  • Apply Lean principles through the Volvo Performance System (VPS) to drive continuous improvement in Health & Safety processes, systems, and performance.
  • Conduct frequent travel across Latin America (Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Chile, and Mexico) to perform HSE audits, site assessments, and ensure compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in safety engineering, providing guidance to leadership and cross-functional teams.

Who are you?

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Production, Environmental, Mechanical or related field).
  • Postgraduate studies or certifications in Occupational Health & Safety Engineering
  • Relevant experience in Health & Safety Engineering, preferably in industrial or manufacturing environments and especially in multinational companies.
  • Experience with Lean methodologies and continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Availability and willingness to travel frequently across Latin America.
  • Experience in risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation and audits.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) is mandatory
