What you will do

At Powertrain Electrical & Electronics you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry, and society at large. You will be the key point of contact within Volvo, engaging with production plants, suppliers, quality teams, purchasing areas, project groups, and other engineering departments for your components, which will be applied to heavy-duty and medium-duty powertrain electronic systems. This role requires regular communication with both internal Volvo teams and external parties, focusing on specifications and functionality. Your work will occasionally involve visits to Volvo's production and engineering facilities and supplier sites. You'll also have opportunities to participate in field tests, gaining firsthand experience with components in real-world applications.

With a broad scope, this role enables you to build extensive cross-functional networks and provides excellent opportunities to develop diverse skills and competencies.

Your work focus will adapt based on the current project portfolio and product development phase. However, your main activities will include:

  • Design, documentation, and knowledge management of E&E HW components;
  • Definition of technical specifications and set design requirements for the components, ensure that all requirements are captured, documented, and balanced;
  • Choosing the appropriate hardware for various projects, defining and documenting pinout details for our control units;
  • Ensuring effective cross-functional coordination to meet requirements for product quality, delivery, cost, features, and sustainability;
  • Definition of verification and validation plans, follow-up and evaluation of physical tests and simulation results;
  • Approval of applications for either newly developed or existing systems/components;
  • Support to manufacturing, purchasing, and customer service areas in questions related to the components;
  • Leadership over quality problem-solving activities and assurance over internal and external customer satisfaction;
  • Evaluation of product reliability levels;
  • Support of data analytics processes and tools, finding opportunities to increase the adoption of such data in the development of your components;
  • Management of the technical relationship with the suppliers, securing strong cooperation;
  • Support of other development sites, especially the platform sites in Sweden and France.

Who are you?

  • Master of Science (equivalent to Engineering degree in Brazil - Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics or equivalent) - Post-graduation is considered a merit,
  • Excellent skills and professional experience in electronic hardware development,
  • Experience in the the automotive industry will be considered a merit,
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques such as root cause analysis, FMEA, pugh matrix, quality tools, etc,
  • Strong drive to analyze issues and to implement changes when needed, with a holistic view,
  • Proactivity,
  • Accountability and responsibility,
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset,
  • Ability to interact with diverse teams and openly exchange ideas,
  • Strong sense of urgency and energy level,
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese (Written and Verbal).
