BIW Multi-Craft Leader

Core Responsibilities

  • Responsible for equipment documentation and updating drawings, as needed, for modifications
  • Specify and quantify recommended spare parts by creation of spare parts ledgers and working with Central Stores, as needed, to ensure parts. Work with Central Stores on replacement of obsolete parts
  • Check the data of emergency work orders to execute plans to address any issues
  • Participate in EWO meetings for area of responsibility to help drive to root cause
  • Generate monthly reports, as needed, for maintenance engineering activities and KPI’s of area of responsibility
  • Work closely with Suppliers to improve equipment up-time
  • Support and perform Kaizen projects, as related to Maintenance Engineering
  • Provide technical support to Maintenance on repairs of equipment in emergency situations
  • Give support, where required, to create OPL’s for Autonomous Maintenance
  • Maintains and updates the plant equipment standard by working with various Maintenance Staff Members
  • Perform design work to reduce equipment weak points
  • Must be able to work any shift to reach group objectives
  • Instruct and manage hourly employees on Maintenance Engineering Projects and CBM activities
  • Able to design equipment improvements at a high level using 3d cad software.
  • Trail, establish, and supply technical engineering support for new process trials and  current production product

Additional Responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains the optimum process methods, standards, tooling and equipment for all assigned products and processes
  • Promotes manufacturing safety and efficiency through implementation of method/process change, ergonomic application and safety awareness
  • Coordinates the introduction of new manufacturing automation processes and maintains the efficiency of current automated process such as but not limited to robotics, welding, and glue dispense and PLC controls.
  • Collaborates with cross functional groups in Engineering and Operations in developing performing manufacturing design reviews, and processing design development and prototype builds
  • Identifies and implements methods, processes, and equipment using VPS methodology
  • Uses lessons learned to develop processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency in BIW.
  • Develops new and maintains existing programs for robots, weld controllers, and glue dispense and other automated equipment to assure defined OEE and equipment performance.
  • Analyzes and continuously evaluates and improves assembly efficiency through observation, investigation and critical problem solving
  • Identifies opportunities for cost reductions through the implementation of new BIW technology
  • Train, support and mentor NRV maintenance master technicians and maintenance engineering, as requested
  • Manage and implement engineering programs as required
  • Collaboratively interfaces with plant personnel to accomplish quality and production goals
  • Support maintenance in trouble shooting equipment. Direct maintenance personnel in resolving equipment issues when required.
  • Direct the maintenance department in the operation of BIW technology as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must be willing and able to work all shifts, call-ins, holidays, and overtime
  • Regular attendance is required

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering preferred, or Engineering Technology.
  • Certified by ABB, KUKA, FANUC or robotic manufacturer of current plant choice in robotic programming and troubleshooting.
  • Possesses Certified Welding Tech documentation
  • Achieves Level 2 certification for non-destructive testing (ultrasonic) of welds.
  • Certified Bosch weld controller programming or controller of plant choice.
  • 5 Years of Manufacturing Experience Equivalent with a focus on Robotic, weld controller, or glue dispense programming, OR
  • 7 Years of Manufacturing Experience and Associate degree in Electrical,, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or Welding, Robotics or Instrumentation and Controls equivalent with a focus on Robotic, weld controller, or glue dispense programming.
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and CAD
  • Ability to lead a diverse work force

For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000- $118,500 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
